Acerca de esta escucha
"The happiness I feel in offering these to you is vast as a savanna," Pablo Neruda wrote his adored wife, Matilde Urrutia de Neruda, in his dedication of 100 Love Sonnets. Set against the backdrop of his beloved Isla Negra, these joyfully sensual poems draw on the wind and tides, the white sand with its scattering of delicate wildflowers, and the hot sun and salty scent of the sea to celebrate their love. Generations of lovers since Pablo and Matilde have shared these poems with each other, making 100 Love Sonnets one of the most popular books of poetry of all time. This beautifully redesigned volume, perfect for gift-giving, presents graceful English translations of the original Spanish sonnets.

Historia
Charged with sensuality and passion, Pablo Neruda's love poems are the most celebrated of the Nobel Prize winner's oeuvre, captivating listeners with earthbound images and reveling in a fiery reimagining of the world. Mostly written on the island paradise of Capri (the idyllic setting of the Oscar-winning movie Il Postino), Love Poems embraces the seascapes surrounding the poet and his love, Matilde Urrutia, their waves and shores saturated with a new, yearning eroticism.

Historia
Pablo Neruda, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, finished writing The Captain's Verses in 1952 while in exile on the island of Capri - the paradisiacal setting for the blockbuster film Il Postino ( The Postman). Surrounded by sea, sun, and Capri's natural splendors, Neruda addressed these poems to his lover, Matilde Urrutia, before they were married, but he didn't publish them publicly until 1963.

Maya Angelou’s unforgettable collection of poetry lends its name to the documentary film about her life, And Still I Rise, as seen on PBS’s American Masters. “It is true poetry she is writing,” M. F.K . Fisher has observed, “not just rhythm, the beat, rhymes. I find it very moving and at times beautiful. It has an innate purity about it, unquenchable dignity.... It is astounding, flabbergasting, to recognize it, in all the words I read every day and night...it gives me heart, to hear so clearly the caged bird singing and to understand her notes.”

Historia
One of the 20th century's enduring works, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a widely beloved and acclaimed novel known throughout the world and the ultimate achievement in a Nobel Prize-winning career. The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the Buendía family. Rich and brilliant, it is a chronicle of life, death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the beautiful, ridiculous, and tawdry story of the Buendía family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America.

When Walt Whitman self-published "Leaves of Grass" in 1855, he rocked the literary world and forever changed the course of poetry. In subsequent editions, Whitman continued to revise and expand his poems - but none matched the raw power and immediacy of the first edition. This volume presents the 1855 "Leaves of Grass" in its entirety, unchanged, along with Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous letter to Whitman.

Nerudas Masterpiece 🩷
Neil Hellegers is the perfect narrator for *100 Love Sonnets* by Pablo Neruda. His voice captures the deep, soulful essence of Neruda's poetry, bringing each sonnet to life with a mesmerizing blend of passion and subtlety. Hellegers' delivery is so evocative that I felt chills throughout the entire narration. He expertly conveys the rhythm and emotion of Neruda's words, making this audiobook a truly unforgettable experience. It's as if the verses are being whispered directly to your heart, and I couldn't imagine a better voice to accompany these timeless poems.

Neruda cheated on Matilda
These were beautiful and sensuous and intense, but extremely repetitive (always about her being compared to nature or the house or general surroundings). Nevertheless, the most interesting part of it all is the fact that Neruda wrote a hundred poems for this woman, and yet he still cheated on her. With her niece. Have fun looking that up XD
