As a woman physician myself it gives me hope that reinvention is possible at any age

I related to Gladys’ journey as a woman physician, mother and grandmother. I also empathize with her struggles in the Patriarchal Medical field and being a divorced woman who was betrayed not once but in my case twice. And still Gladys persisted and grew from all these experiences. She also came to recognize her divinity within and of those of those around her. She learned to Love, Forgive, grow and never stop living in courage.

Elaine Pagels knowledge of the early Christian Church and the formation of the New Testament is Astounding

Revisado: 12-30-23

I have been reading Elaine Pagel’s books for the past 5 years and I am astounded by her knowledge of early Church history and how the early church formed. She is a Harvard Divinity School PhD and one of the team of religious scholars who helped to decipher the Nag Hamadi scriptures which were hidden in a cave for 1500 years. They had been ordered to be burned by the Roman Empire. There were many other apocryphal texts that were hidden. This one was included and subsequently used as doctrinal tool to suppress any questioning thought and create a tool to divide, control and enslave other men. I only hope that this truth is spread as fast as possible so that this Revelation is not used as an excuse for ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Realigning My Celtic Indigenous Roots with Christ

This book reveals so much to me of how our Celtic inner knowing was aligned with Christ's teachings and how the organized Roman Catholic Church repeatedly suppressed Celtic Bishops and political activists through the ages to deny access to the sacred and to deny the sacredness of nature. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to reconnect to the sacredness of nature and realign with their own inner knowing of God.

Encouraging Advice but a little pollyanna-ish

I really enjoyed this series. The advice was encouraging and practical. I do feel it was a bit “Polly Anna-ish” and perhaps not sensitive to those of us making transitions after a period of narcissistic abuse: from partners, from our culture, from religions, from our work places. I don’t want to call it “toxic positivity” because it is true advice, but maybe not sensitive to those of us who need to first set boundaries and heal before moving on.

You had me at “trust me your child is constipated”

As a retired pediatric emergency physician, who saw thousands of children with abdominal pain and urinary tract infections. I can whole heartedly recommend this book for parents who are potty training. Read this book and learn before even starting potty training and hopefully you will avoid the inevitable stool withholding, constipation, utis and accidents that occur. Constipated kids also have a much higher incidence of appendicitis. Who knows you might actually learn a few things about better foul habits for yourself as well.

This is one of those books I always wanted to read but it has so much more meaning now that I am “old”. The performance was flawless. After listening I feel at one with all things, all time and all consciousness. That is a beautiful thing. I think I will have a Buddha smile on my face all day.

Michener was the Ken Burns of his time. If it were required reading today it would be called CRT. But it is just an honest assessment of the history of the Eastern shore of Maryland and the country in which it resides. I wish I had read it 45 years ago.
I wish we ALL had.

I’ve been recommending this book to friends and family since shortly after beginning listening to it. Sometimes a book like this will repeatedly hammer the same topic over and over again to the point of exhaustion. Not this book, it continues to approach the subject from all angles and all perspectives and is full of insightful surprises. I would put this book up there with works by Malcolm Gladwell and Brene Brown. A must read for anyone concerned about the future of our society and our species.

I have read Brene’s daring greatly seven years ago and found it very inspiring. But this book summarizes all of her work and synthesizes it into a beautiful manifesto. You are the CEO of your life and this book will lead you, if you do the work, to better relationships and a beautiful future. No, I’m not high, I’m truly inspired.
