i usually like most of Ms. Lee's stories. and this one was fine. BUT, the way most of the men treat Avery throughout the series is not ok. That these men are ALWAYS upset with her, talking down to her, treating her like she is a child, is not ok. How much it happens through the series is unsettling. She is an adult, she is an investigative reporter. She is doing her job and though she stumbles into things regarding the cases, these men are overly angry at her. She is blamed alot for things and it just makes the story cringy as you get further into it. They invade her personal space, you can tell she is afraid in those situations and I'm not sure if that was what Ms. Lee was trying to portray but there are several instances of verbal, mental and somewhat physical abuse towards Avery. Those things do not make me want to read the rest of this collection.
