Historia
“You shouldn’t be here. It’s too late....” These, heard over the phone, were the last recorded words of successful celebrity-divorce lawyer Richard Pryce, found bludgeoned to death in his bachelor pad with a bottle of wine - a 1982 Chateau Lafite worth £3,000, to be precise. Odd, considering he didn’t drink. Why this bottle? And why those words? And why was a three-digit number painted on the wall by the killer? And, most importantly, which of the man’s many, many enemies did the deed?

Historia
From colorful 30,000-year-old threads found on the floor of a Georgian cave to the Indian calicoes that sparked the Industrial Revolution, The Golden Thread weaves an illuminating story of human ingenuity. Design journalist Kassia St. Clair guides us through the technological advancements and cultural customs that would redefine human civilization - from the fabric that allowed mankind to achieve extraordinary things (traverse the oceans and shatter athletic records) and survive in unlikely places (outer space and the South Pole).

Something we all should know!
Revisado: 12-26-22
Learn something new everyday! And this book is it ! As a sewist, knitter, and now weaver I really wanted to know some history of thread, yarn and where we came from this has been a fascinating listen, although I had to do it in small sessions it os so well researched and each section illuminating. Thank you, I know from time to time I will go back and refresh on many topics. The hardest to listen to was the cotton production and slavery, although enlightening, I have encouraged others to listen and appreciate what it is and what they are sewing on!!

Historia
The day Adam Dunne's girlfriend, Sarah, fails to return from a Barcelona business trip, his perfect life begins to fall apart. Days later, the arrival of her passport and a note that reads "I'm sorry - S" sets off real alarm bells. He vows to do whatever it takes to find her. Adam is puzzled when he connects Sarah to a cruise ship called the Celebrate - and to a woman, Estelle, who disappeared from the same ship in eerily similar circumstances almost exactly a year before. To get answers, Adam must confront some difficult truths.

What a boyfriend!
Revisado: 12-13-22
If I had a boyfriend like that I’d sail away too! Not sure if it was the narrator or what but he had a very strong agitated way of talking, I just wanted to sit him down and slow down ! The books conclusion was good, really finished up well.

More native rituals and history
Revisado: 11-02-21
I am really enjoying this series. Enjoy the characters, and development, but there is no Chipawaw history or tribal enrollment. Which is what I really love about Tony Hillarman. I love the native characters and what they bring to the story.

Saturday night. It was not a night to be spending alone, riding a bus. When he was a teenager at the comprehensive, Saturday night without a girl, without a date, without at least your mates to raise hell with, Saturday night alone would have been shameful. One wouldn't want to be seen alone on a Saturday night…. Who are you kidding? That was never your life, Jury, not yours.

Historia
The story of poison is the story of power. For centuries, royal families have feared the gut-roiling, vomit-inducing agony of a little something added to their food or wine by an enemy. To avoid poison, they depended on tasters, unicorn horns, and antidotes tested on condemned prisoners. Servants licked the royal family's spoons, tried on their underpants, and tested their chamber pots. Ironically, royals terrified of poison were unknowingly poisoning themselves daily with their cosmetics, medications, and filthy living conditions.

So very interesting,to learn who and what kind of people we came from! It’s such a revelation to learn in what filth they lived in, and then to belittle other cultures , ie the American Indians as slovenly, when they were so awful and arrogant for generations .

Historia
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

It is really harsh, but is written at the time when people were brutal. The violence is hard to deal with. The acting is great, the sound effects great! The heroine sucks!
