Growing attached to this cast of characters and this tight storyline, I knew the climax would be mind blowing, but WOW! I LOVED THIS STORY.

The title says it all. Easy road ahead. Nope. Diseases from the dark ages, hunger, peril around every turn, small glimmers of hope, even mother nature wrecks havoic on our weary survivors. The performance keeps you engage, draws you just close enough to the disparity you can feel it. Thank goodness for the pause button. I needed it several times to catch my breath. By the end of their cross country trek, I want them ready to regroup and go to war. I won't spoil the story, but buckle up and watch your six.

Experience Post Apoc From Bad to Worse

My favorite moment was the Neighborhood war. It complimented the Post Apoc fall of Chicago storyline. And as a fan of this series and The Last War, I really enjoyed the two stories coming together. The narrator kept me hooked the entire time.

Elevated Heart Rate

The Narrator kept me going to the end, even when the scenes were heavy. This second installment in the series has mature, albeit believable, themes. Child trafficking, even in the face of an Apocalypse, is a difficult subject to traverse. I understand that the author used these scenes to create true villains, and perhaps mirror the AI God. I did not expect the action in this book to match the first book. I was correct. There were more scenes of action, and a little less introspection. I find myself rooting for and against several of the characters in this story. I did not expect to get as emotionally connected to the characters as I did.
Daggumit, what a ride. I have to see what happens next in book 3. It's 11:55 pm. Oh well, I'll sleep later.

Buckle Up and Hold On

From the very beginning to the last paragraph, action packed, character driven plot. Better than a movie. This story takes you from Guatemala to Chicago as AI unleashes hell on earth and brings together multiple dysfunctional families. Buy the whole series. Incredibly entertaining and the narrator kept me fully engaged.
