Historia
How the monarchs of England and Scotland met their deaths has been a wonderful mixture of violence, infections, overindulgence and occasional regicide. In Mortal Monarchs, medical historian Dr Suzie Edge examines 1,000 years of royal deaths to uncover the plots, accusations, rivalries and ever-present threat of poison that the kings and queens of old faced.

Brilliant and Informative
Revisado: 10-14-23
I was sad upon finishing this book and I'm desperate for more like it. I love the in-depth and interesting dichotomy of historical facts and scientific details. I really enjoyed her medical perspective and the scientific WHY behind facts we've heard and taken for granted. It was a thought provoking piece and I'm suggesting it to everyone I know!

Historia
The remarkable stories of the world's most famous body parts. All too often, historical figures feel distant and abstract; more myth and legend than real flesh and blood. These stories of bodies and its parts remind us that history's most-loved, and most-hated, were real breathing creatures who inhabited organs and limbs just like us - until they're cut off that is. Medical historian Dr Suzie Edge investigates over 40 cases of how we've used, abused, dug up, displayed, experimented on, and worshipped body parts.

Great and Gruesome!
Revisado: 10-14-23
As a fan of science and history, I was really drawn to this book (particularly because I just finished Mortal Monarchs also by Suzie Edge). If you enjoy the facts and details as well as interesting oddities, I think you'll enjoy this book. Edge doesn't reach for the macabre (on purpose), but explores the fun side of weird history giving the body a look from head to toe and inside with the medical side of the story as well as the historical relevance! I devoured this book in two days and I'm dying for the next one! If you're easily grossed out, don't listen or read it while eating. Thank you, Suzie! I'm a fan for life!

Now, finally, he is home. But home is a world whose landscape is filled with death and destruction. Desperation and dust are constant companions and luxury is a glass of clean water and a warm place to sleep.

Andrew J. Robinson treats us!
Revisado: 08-30-23
Such a treat to have another performance by Andrew J. Robinson as Garak! This is a piece of the background of Garak and the enigma of his youth and his early formation.
This is an excellent story-so full of imagery and constantly interesting! if you loved DS9 and needed a fix with some new content, this is like a runabout full of Gold Pressed Latinum!
Andrew, please write more!

Historia
Into a memoir that is gripping, funny, heartbreaking, and unforgettable, Walter Dean Myers richly weaves the details of his Harlem childhood in the 1940s and 1950s: a loving home life with his adopted parents, Bible school, street games, and the vitality of his neighborhood. Although Walter spent much of his time either getting into trouble or on the basketball court, secretly he was a voracious reader and an aspiring writer.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
LOVE THIS BOOK, it's unfortunate that chapters 1 and 2 are missing from the audio. LAME!
