Historia
We’re never going to be able to prevent people from saying or doing things that hurt our feelings. We will always have opportunities to get offended. But if we do things God’s way, we can choose to save ourselves a lot of misery and hardship. This doesn’t mean we allow people to abuse us. No, there is a time for confronting people and dealing with situations. However, the Bible commands us to love our enemies and forgive those who have wronged us, even when it feels impossible.

Don't recommend the audio version
Revisado: 02-19-23
It was read so dry/monotone that it took away from the message. Returning it since I could never sit through it a second time!

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Lost interest a couple hours in

It started out strong but then just seemed to drag on and on and on. Never finished it. Not sure why everyone’s raving about this book so much!

Historia
We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but.

More about feminism than sobriety
Revisado: 01-16-20
This book became extremely "gaggy" somewhere around the 8th chapter. There was more complaining about women's rights than anything else and the only takeaway I got from this is that I'm not a feminist...

One of the best alcohol-related books I've read!
Revisado: 12-13-19
I've now read dozens of sobriety books so I know good ones from bad ones, and this is definitely a good one! Highly recommend!
The only thing I had a little trouble with via the audio version is that the author reads it REALLY FAST so I had trouble keeping up with some of the details and stats.

Historia
Why isn't your love life where you want it to be? Are you going to point fingers at the quality of today's men, blame the city that you live in, or come up with the defense that you don't have the energy to date? You pretend to be working on yourself, but you secretly hope and wish that Prince Charming will fall in your lap. You make the excuse that it's not you, it's the men, but there is something inside of you that knows the common denominator in all of your failed relationships was you!

Great book but the narrator's voice was NOT for it
Revisado: 11-15-19
The voice of the narrator distracted from the content of the book, terribly. I am picturing this 60-some-year-old Hannibal type character saying the "D" word and all of these other bad words, lol and it's just not right! Haha. G.L. Lambert should be reading all of his books because Ho Tactics was 100% better with his narration.

Historia
Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women not living into their full potential. They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough. In Girl, Stop Apologizing, number-one New York Times best-selling author and founder of a multimillion-dollar media company, Rachel Hollis sounds a wake-up call. She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people - whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee....

Lost all respect for Rachel Hollis after this book
Revisado: 09-30-19
This WAS a pretty good book with pretty good concepts until toward the middle-to-end of the book where the author continued to excessively complain re: how stressful and inconvenient writing books is for her and how dreadful her deadlines are and it’s kind of like...hmm, stop writing them then because nobody feels sorry for you when you are able to write your books while flying first class and in all of these other amazing places while your nanny watches your kids, lol...I definitely do NOT recommend the audio version; the author sounds like she’s reading to 1st graders and has a very whiny/squeaky/annoying voice throughout.
For me, this took away from the message. I actually ended up unfollowing her on social media on account of this book and all of the self-pity she has for herself when she has this freakin' phenomenal life.

Historia
A memoir of unblinking honesty and poignant, laugh-out-loud humor, Blackout is the story of a woman stumbling into a new kind of adventure - the sober life she never wanted. For Sarah Hepola, alcohol was "the gasoline of all adventure". She spent her evenings at cocktail parties and dark bars where she proudly stayed till last call. But there was a price. Publicly, she covered her shame with self-deprecating jokes, and her career flourished, but as the blackouts accumulated, she could no longer avoid a sinking truth.

Did I really waste a credit on this nonsense?
Revisado: 12-16-18
Stopped listening after the first two hours because I was not getting a single thing out of it and it was a little too trashy for my liking. I was going to stop it way earlier but had high hopes that it would get better since the reviews were so high. I do not recommend this book at all.

Would have enjoyed it with a more enthusiastic reader
Revisado: 03-11-17
The biggest deterrent I had from this audiobook was how "dry" Joe Vitale's reading was. I found myself drifting asleep several times, even though the material was good. Very monotone.
