The reader is very monotone. There are strange colloquialisms the author uses and the reader just sounds like a computer reading it. It’s hard to listen to and see the human in it. The first two or three chapters are like a late night infomercial trying to sell you CBT. It comes off as a cheap sales pitch and not like a legitimate approach. There are a lot of repetitive elements between chapters and not a lot for just every day people who want to use CBT to help with those tough times. Instead the author tells you that you are not living a “normal life” and everyone wants to be “normal” so you need to fix yourself. It’s not only dry, repetitive, and vague, it’s also offensive. I do NOT recommend this book.
