Historia
Frederick Fife was born with an extra helping of kindness in his heart. If he borrowed your car, he’d return it washed with a full tank of gas. The problem is there’s nobody left in Fred’s life to borrow from. At eighty-two, he’s desperately lonely, broke, and on the brink of homelessness. But Fred’s luck changes when, in a bizarre case of mistaken identity, he takes the place of grumpy Bernard Greer at the local nursing home. Now he has warm meals in his belly and a roof over his head—as long as his poker face is in better shape than his prostate and that his look-alike never turns up.

Interesting take - a space opera about a grunt. Always a little annoying when the protagonist is in teens/twenties, but that’s true IRL too.

Great story, painful narration
Revisado: 01-03-25
It could be that I am just used to narrators like RC Bray and the likes, but this narration was odd. Pauses in the middle of sentences doesn’t add depth to the character, but confusion in the story.
What a fantastic novella, though! If it wasn’t for the narrator, I would probably go back and listen to all of his books.

Each book really expands the characters, and gets better and better. Beware, this one has quite a big cliffhanger. Get this one and the following one together.

Meh
Revisado: 11-18-24
Often throughout the book it felt like she would drone on and then skip to something unrelated. I’m not sure if it was the narrator or the writing that made it so difficult to pay attention. Some really great nuggets, but it felt way too long for the story.

Maybe better read
Revisado: 09-12-23
First of all, this is the best narration I’ve heard out of hundreds of books. Every single character was distinct and recognizable. Incredible!
Now, it took me quite a long time to not be confused, and I’m able to follow some pretty crazy storylines. Maybe I didn’t do enough research on the story or maybe I just wasn’t paying close enough attention, but I would say this is probably better read than listened to to better keep up with the narrative. Great story, though!

Entertaining
Revisado: 07-10-23
Until they were well on the cruise, I wasn’t sure I liked this at all. Once on the cruise, it was more enjoyable, but not as good as the others. Still, I would get the follow up if there ever is one. Way too much girl on girl romance for me! But it ended in a nice little bow-tied package.

Great story, fine writing, fantastic narration. Writing is a little painful at times, but this was entertaining enough. Probably won’t get another book from this author unless reviews indicate it’s worth it.
