Historia
Meet Jim Carrey. Sure, he's an insanely successful and beloved movie star drowning in wealth and privilege — but he's also lonely. Maybe past his prime. Maybe even...getting fat? He's tried diets, gurus, and cuddling with his military-grade Israeli guard dogs, but nothing seems to lift the cloud of emptiness and ennui. Even the sage advice of his best friend, actor, and dinosaur skull collector Nicolas Cage isn't enough to pull Carrey out of his slump.

An allegory, a poem, a surrealist journey through philosophic investigation by a true artist. I’m better for listening.

Absolutely worth the time and money investment.
Revisado: 05-31-23
Peter takes an interesting turn in the later chapters and becomes vulnerable about his own journey. It is honest, clear, and relatable. I love when the experts stay with the rest of us and share, on a down-to-earth level, their humanness, their struggles, and their growth.

Historia
Behind a smokescreen of “preparing students for the new industrial economy,” early progressives had political control in mind. America’s original schools didn’t just make kids memorize facts or learn skills; they taught them to think freely and arrive at wisdom. They assigned the classics, inspired love of God and country, and raised future citizens that changed the world forever.

not quite sophomoric - so freshomoric?
Revisado: 07-18-22
His entire thesis is "Bring God... no wait, Bring Jesus back into education." He makes fanatical connections and farcical associations between true intellects and his agenda. He calls everyone who disagrees with him a communist or a radical and then goes on to talk about how the "left" "labels" conservatives. (As if his Christian brand of conservatism is the only one!)
This entire book is a poor point made in a bar that is easily dismissed by anyone who knows what they are talking about. I suspect, however, it was written for non-critical thinkers (see what I did there) and meant to just stand as a talking point on why the right is more loved by their god.
I suffered the read so you don't have to - move along. This book should be a hard pass for anyone concerned with actual education.
