Historia
Written after his wife's tragic death as a way of surviving the "mad midnight moments", A Grief Observed is C.S. Lewis's honest reflection on the fundamental issues of life, death, and faith in the midst of loss. This work contains his concise, genuine reflections on that period.

The sheer intelligence of Mr. C.S. Lewis
Revisado: 03-22-24
I, too, have known grief of loss. The loss of both parents, 2/3 of my siblings and a spouse and I found myself astounded by Mr. Lewis’ explanation of experiencing grief. It was almost as if his intellect was detached and observing his physical grief from a distant corner of the room. Perhaps this how great minds operate.

Historia
This compelling spiritual quest by Hermann Hesse, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1946, is considered one of the most important works of 20th century fiction. Siddhartha's search for enlightenment leads him to the river of life itself. On his journey he learns from many teachers: the ascetic Samanas, the all-knowing Gotama the Buddha, Kamala the lovely courtesan, and Vasudeva the simple ferryman.

Disappointed in Paraphrase & Over Editing
Revisado: 11-13-21
While reading a copy of Hesse’ Siddhartha I then chose to finish the story using my Audible account. Immediately I realized the two were not the same… many words were completely left out in the Audible version while others were paraphrased.
The written version has such a wonderful command of language; unlike anything we are used to in the 21st century. It’s a shame that was lost in Audible’s version. One wonders why? Surely it cannot be merely for the sake of brevity. Other books I’ve enjoyed with Audible were very lengthy and had several volumes & they weren’t chopped like Siddhartha.
There were several versions of Siddhartha offered by Audible and I chose the one narrated by Sir Derek Jacobi. I’m very glad I did as his enunciation is impeccable.
