It took me a while to actually get into this book. When it first starts out, it starts with some action. However, after the first 15 minutes, it really slows down and stays like that for a good portion of the book. It did finally pick up for me about a third of the way through. Overall, it's an ok read if you take the time to get interested in the story and don't take it too seriously.

Creepy!!
Revisado: 06-20-18
Sick House was different that most of the books I have been reading lately. It was very creepy, that's for sure. The cover says it all "A home invasion from beyond the grave." At first I didn't realize what the three guys had to do with the family but I quickly figured that part out. This book had a great plot. I liked the story. The family goes through so much and they don't have any of the usual signs that their house is haunted or that something is wrong. I thought the way the "ghosts" were portrayed was very interesting. It's not the usual way that ghosts are described it books and these are the kind of ghosts you are used to. The author was really creative here. The narrator did an excellent job as always.

Historia
A couple of months have passed since the cyborg smuggler known as Salem led a small team in the violent coup that brought down Abraxas, demon Archduke of New Golgotha’s central kingdom of Ars Goetia. From the destruction, Salem became a hero, whether he wanted to be one or not, and was appointed the first human baron in the demon-run supercity. But Hell does not like being made to look foolish - or weak. And Salem’s actions, while noble, have consequences. A victory for man means a defeat for Hell. A single question will be asked of Salem: How far can a hero fall?

The Technomancer
Revisado: 06-19-18
I didn't read the first book in this series. However, I will definitely go back and do just that. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning. There was never a dull moment. It was very witty, funny and creative. Even though I didn't read the first book, I didn't feel lost in this one. I could tell there was a book before it but the author filled in just enough that I knew the basics and made me want to listen to the first one.
The narrator did an excellent job. He really brought the story to life. Before this book, I hadn't listened to anything from M.K. Gibson or Jeffrey Kafer. After I heard it, I looked for other books by both of them.

Couldn't finish
Revisado: 06-05-18
I thought the plot of this book would be interesting and the sample sounded pretty good. I had a really hard time trying to get through it. The book jumps around so much and I spent so much time trying to figure out what one thing had to do with another. I actually forgot what the book was about and had to go back and read the summary to try to figure out where the story was going. I also had a hard time trying to get into the book itself. I actually tried to listen to another book and then come back to this one. That didn't help too much. I still just couldn't get into it. The narrator did a good job though. That's why I gave it two stars overall.

Herb Baumeister
Revisado: 05-26-18
Previous to reading this book, I had never heard of Herb Baumeister. This book provided a lot of great information about him. It talked about the way he was as a kid and how he hid his true nature from the world. I really liked how the author presented the information without droning on and he didn't tell it in a way that seemed like an exhausting list of facts. The only negative I can think of is there isn't as much information on the investigation or victims as I would have liked. However, that alone wasn't enough to bring the rating down. The narrator did a great job. I like the tone he put with the book. He kept it interesting.

Historia
Vampires aren't supposed to feel anything beyond hunger and bloodlust, but Viktor still feels a whole lot. He hates what he's become, but there's no escape. Not from the dying city smothering him, or from his maker, an arrogant tyrant who demands absolute loyalty. Ketha's a shifter and a seer, for all the good it does her. Not enough magic is left to power much of anything. In a rare victory, an image forms in her glass, and she understands how magic broke the world - and how to fix it. The only antidote is an alliance with vampires, but she can't convince anyone to cooperate.

Revisado: 05-22-18
I have never read anything from this author before so I wasn't sure what to expect. At first it seemed like this book was going to be repetitive. I thought this would get tedious and make the book not very enjoyable. However, it turns out that there were just a couple of times that this happens. Both are in the beginning when they first meet. There was so much action in this book and so much going on that is really grabbed my attention and held it. I really liked the fact that the book has underlying sexual tension without seeming like the whole book has to be about sex between the two main characters. It was a very good and light read.I think the narrator did a great job. It was easy to differentiate between the characters.

There really wasn't any short stories in this book that I would consider scary. A few were kind of creepy, though. However, there were several that I thought were pretty good and it made the book worthwhile. Like any other collection of short stories, there was some that I really enjoyed and others that were just okay. I think my favorite stories were the one about the sex doll, the midget dressing as a little girl, the little boy that disappeared, and the experimental son. The narrator did alright. Sometimes it was a little difficult to differentiate between the characters, though.

Turned out to be pretty good
Revisado: 05-19-18
There wasn't really a description with this book when I got it. However, I do remember reading something that stated it was a man's decent into insanity. As a person that is really into psychology, I felt like this was a book I could really get into. I'm not so sure I got that from this book. I think the main character felt like he was going insane but most people that are losing touch with reality don't realize it. To them, everything they see or feel is completely real and they can't discern the difference. This character knew that parts of what he was going through wasn't real at times. By the end of the book, it seemed more like a family curse instead of complete insanity. It kind of took on a Stephen King feel. The curse had more to do with the family and the house its self. The book could be a bit confusing at times but I felt like that was kind of the point since it was meant to be mostly in the point of view by someone who thought they were losing their mind. If you miss parts, it can be a bit difficult to catch up. I think the narrator did good on this book. And, all things considered, it turned out to be a pretty good book.

Gripping
Revisado: 05-15-18
This story tells about a guy and the horrors he goes through during the remodel of an old house. It was a very enjoyable listen. It pretty much grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept it until the end of the book. Everything moved quickly and smoothly in it. There is so much that happens to this guy while he's working on this house that I can see why he would think he's losing his mind. The author gives great descriptions of the things he encounters during his project. I thought the ending was completely unexpected but it fit the rest of the story. The narrator does a great job as well. His performance flowed really well with the book and made it that much better.

Great
Revisado: 05-15-18
I enjoyed these books a lot more than I thought i would. The first book starts off a little slow but it picked up pretty quick and kept me interested until the end. Each book also keeps me interested in what is happening within that story and what is going to happen when each vampire finds their long lost love.
The narrator was great as usual. I always enjoy her performance and I love the feeling she puts behind her words. It adds to the story and makes it that much better.
