Hmm...I feel like I've read this all before. I wonder where? OH! I know: "The Novice"--book 1 of the Summoner Series & also "The Battlemage" book 3
*deep sighs* This really felt like a rewrite but with the character names switched. :-(
I don't feel like anything new was added to the series that was needed. this felt so unnecessary.
But it felt like a lot of things were a little bit recycled from the original trilogy

Electric!
Revisado: 08-07-19
17 electric children were born all on the same day but not all survived. The survivors were separated and raised as normal children. There are 2 electric children that live in the same city. There is also a man named Hatch who is trying to gather all the electrics and take over the world.
YES! That alone drew me in! It was such a good, quick read! I really enjoyed this one. Will probably read book 2 later this year.

Emotional
Revisado: 08-02-19
This was a hard read for me. It made me emotional yet grateful at the same time. By the end I felt uplifted and beaten down.
Jefferson came across to me as a person with a disability and a little compassion was needed. However, with it being the time frame it was. I can see how that would be impossible.
Jefferson really was at the wrong place at the wrong time and the community knew it. He reminded me so much of Korey Wise from the Exonerated Five.
Overall, the story left me feeling depressed and has become another notch on the belt that is black pain and suffering and the injustice some of us receive at the hands of oppressors.

Historia
Ben Carver is back to normal. He's working steadily in his classes at the Natick School. He just got elected captain of the baseball team. He's even won a full scholarship to college, if he can keep up his grades. All that foolishness with Rafe Goldberg the past semester is in the past. Except...there's Hannah, the gorgeous girl from the neighboring school, who attracts him and distracts him. There's his mother, whose quiet unhappiness Ben is noticing for the first time. School is harder, the pressure higher, the scholarship almost slipping away.

Disappointed :-(
Revisado: 07-09-19
Unfortunately this 2nd entry didn't seem as good as the 1st :( It fell flat for me. The plot and pacing could have been better. I was expecting more from Ben when it came to him trying to figure out his bisexuality. Even Ben's relationship to Rafe seemed less impactful/powerful than the previous book.
It was a decent book but didn't enjoy it as much as the 1st.
Ben just seemed less likable than Rafe. The ending was decent, though
