Historia
Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Just Under an Hour - and Silence
Revisado: 11-20-20
I LOVED listening to Jay Shetty narrate his work! It was exactly what I needed right now. Something I will listen to again and again. He has such a kind and soothing voice.
BUT - with just under an hour left to go in the audible book, all audio stopped and never resumed throughout the chapter on Service, Meditation, and the Bonus interview. BUMMER! Hoping there is a way for Audible to see and correct this likely technical error.
Gave the one's in review ONLY to highlight and draw attention to the issue and will Certainly adjust - because it is definitely a 5-star read/listen!

A Heartbreaking but Necessary Listen
Revisado: 08-18-20
To hear of so many women who had their children taken away from them in such a way is heartbreaking. Another shame on society. I am hopeful though, because this seems so outrageous to me, that we have grown significantly in the past couple of decades from this mistake and can begin to heal our families. Thank you to the author for her work on this subject. I had no idea.

Historia
Among the ashes of a dying world, an agent of the Commandment finds a letter. It reads: Burn before reading. Thus begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents hellbent on securing the best possible future for their warring factions. Now, what began as a taunt, a battlefield boast, becomes something more. Something epic. Something romantic. Something that could change the past and the future. Except the discovery of their bond would mean the death of each of them. There’s still a war going on, after all. And someone has to win. That’s how war works, right?

Not What I Expected
Revisado: 08-18-20
If you like flowery, poetic writing - this may be your type of read. If you like vague, convoluted storylines - this may be for you as well. This is NOT Romeo and Juliet. It didn't even truly feel like a time-travelling type of tale (it was, but the storytelling was so loose, its really difficult and unenjoyable). Moments of brilliance because of the poetic writing, but they didn't make the overall book worthwhile. Glad its over. Narrators were okay.

Historia
A perfect next listen for fans of Abbi Waxman and Katherine Center, Can't Take It Back is a fast-paced and relatable debut telling the interconnected stories of four women over the course of a kindergarten school year. Huddled on their favorite park bench in a quiet Seattle suburb, Holly, Avery, Zoe, and Sasha might look like they've got it all figured out - but there’s more to their stories than meets the eye.

Great Story
Revisado: 08-06-20
Really enjoyed the storytelling with this one! Great job of weaving characters in and out of the story by their perspective. Kept it very interesting. Wasn't expecting the few scenes of 50 Shades-esque encounters, so listeners should probably be aware of some adult situations/language lightly interspersed throughout the book. Not overly so, but enough to warrant headphones or a solo listening environment. As others have said, wonderful escapism.

Timely ~ Relevant ~ Interesting
Revisado: 08-06-20
This turned out to be a great Audible selection. Interesting to use such current events, and I thought the premise of finding a stranger at your doorstep - during a Pandemic - on the eve of a quarantine lockdown - compelling. What would make someone invite a person in? How would that develop over time? So many ways this story could have gone, and the writer teased at a few, but delighted me in the end in a way I didn't expect. A few scenes were a bit unrealistic, but certainly made for dramatic effect. The accent of the reader set me off a bit sometimes(I'm sure that's been said about American English more than a few times), but it is set in another country, so that should be expected! Not a bad length at all. I think I got through it in less than a week of WFH time. Perfect. Would make an ideal beach read if printed.
