Fourteen years ago, I killed sixteen people and I'd do it again. Were you expecting something different? Did you think I would be remorseful? No. Each and every one of them deserved to die.
Now, I'm back to reclaim what was always supposed to be mine and destroy everyone who has wronged me or her. Those who took her from me will pay with their lives and I'll smile like the psychopath I am as I deliver my own twisted form of justice.
After all, it's Halloween. The craziest things happen on All Hallow's Eve..
Myers is a dark, taboo horror romance retelling of Michael Myers. This book is graphic in nature so please check the warning on the author's website before diving into this twisted tale. Welcome to Chippewa Falls where Damien King is the one name everyone fears.

Myers is a slasher love story with a carving knife in one hand and a love letter in the other. Damien King, our silent and sexy psycho, survives a brutal childhood, snaps in a very Halloween way, and spends 14 years in prison obsessing over the only light in his life: Trixie. Now she’s Aurora, and he’s back to claim his girl and spill some serious blood.
This book is gory, steamy, and messed up in all the ways dark romance fans crave. It has trauma bonding, age gap madness, masked obsession, and enough trigger warnings to fill a haunted house. The plot had holes and the insta-lust was a little ick, but I cheered this carnage couple like it was a Valentine’s Day massacre.
It’s not a retelling. It’s a stab at what might happen if Michael Myers fell hard instead of just falling bodies. Read with caution and maybe a nightlight.

If you’re picking this up thinking it’s a true Michael Myers retelling, don’t. Damien King is more of a loose nod to the slasher legend. He’s masked, obsessive, and out for revenge, but if you’re a hardcore Halloween fan, you’ll probably notice a lot of things missing or reworked in strange ways.
That said, I went in knowing it was more of a dark, spicy horror novella with Halloween vibes, and for the most part, it delivered on that front. It’s gory, twisted, and has that obsessive, morally-wrong-but-still-somehow-hot dynamic between the main characters. The tension was there, and even though some of the steamier scenes were a bit cringe-y in the wording, the chemistry worked overall.
There were definitely some things I wish had been done differently. The whole “he used to babysit her and now he’s obsessed with her” storyline felt a little off, especially after a fourteen-year gap. I get it’s horror erotica, but I needed more buildup or explanation to buy into that kind of fixation. And there were small plot threads, like her dog, that were mentioned and then just forgotten. Missed potential for sure.
Also, the ending felt abrupt. After everything that happened, it just kind of stopped. No real closure, no “what now” moment, just done. I would’ve loved something dramatic or bittersweet to tie it all together, even if it was just the two of them vanishing into the night. Instead, it left me feeling a little unfinished.
I listened to the audio version, and that experience elevated things. Theodore Zephyr’s voice for Damien was intense, almost too gritty for someone meant to be in his twenties, but undeniably compelling. Madison Mitts brought a nice contrast, though some of the breathier lines during the spice scenes were a bit much for me.
Overall, it wasn’t what I expected, but I still had a good time with it. If you’re into gore, taboo romance, and don’t mind suspending reality for the sake of dark fun, you’ll probably enjoy the chaos!
