Acerca de esta escucha

The story of anguish, betrayal, and love between Callie and her boss (I'll let you figure out which one), is complete in the duet:

  • Cut So Deep
  • Break So Soft

Don't worry. The story ends happily.

Cut So Deep

“Are you his willingly?” Jackson demands, his blue eyes as dark as the clouds above our heads. “Tell me. Are you?”

Jackson Vale. My boss’ rival and the man I’ve thought far too much about since we were introduced last week.

Of all the - “I’m not his,” I sputter indignantly. “I’m just his employee. He doesn’t own me.”

And for some reason, this sets off a flare of intensity and...satisfaction? in Jackson’s expression. That’s it, I officially give up trying to understand any of this.

But then Jackson leans over and speaks so softly in my ear I can barely hear it above the falling rain.

“If you belonged to me, Miss Cruise, you wouldn’t look so disgusted. True ownership goes both ways. I would own you, but you’d own me, too. A concept I’m sorry to say Bryce Gentry’s never understood.”

My breath hitches, and I pull back from the intimacy of his voice on my ear, only to get lost in the dark blue of his eyes.

“Let me go,” I whisper.

He does, but before he turns to go, those brooding eyes pierce me one last time. “I’ll be seeing you again soon.”

And then he turns and is gone into the rain-soaked street, leaving me behind, breathless and confused.

Break So Soft

I’ll do whatever it takes to get her back. She was mine and it was everything. That month with her was as near to perfect as I’ve ever had in my whole life.

But then, I lost it all and I still don’t know why. Though, I suspect it had something to do with Bryce Gentry.

One thing I do know: I’m not letting go of Callie Cruise without a fight. And it’s time for Gentry to finally pay for his many sins.

Warning: The books are dark romance. They contain triggers and dark themes that may be distressing to some listeners.

Almost passed on this, but glad I didn't. BDSM isn't my thing, but I liked how it was explained as a way for Callie to recover her power and get past her sexual abuse.

Dark and wonderful love story

#1 - Not what I was expecting but entertaining nonetheless. If you love a damsel in distress, a H with a savior complex and a dubious contract then this is for you.
Scott Rider only narrates the 2nd epilogue.
#2 - Hahaha! Poppy seeds...🤣 if you know, you know. Ooh! I'm lovin this one, intro to bdsm as a dom with lessons and a switch ❤ Hot!
Warning for rape.

Niiiice and dark

The first book is great. And the way the female lead goes from young and naïve to a strong badass is awesome in a believable way. The male lead starts out as a strong sexy dom and is likable pretty much from the beginning.
But there is just something that turns my stomach about a dom becoming the submissive and a supposed strong sexy man crawling around on the floor calling his sub “mistress”. That’s where the story lost me. I feel like it would have been an amazing story without all of that.

Still worth the credit

I must admit that I was uncomfortable with some of the scenes and was cursing at Callie for being who she is at first. As the story unwinds, we find Callie emerging to be strong and resilient, fighting Bryce Gentry. One villain where you want to see more of him getting punished for what he did...love Scott Rider’s voice for Jackson...I must admit some sections dragged a bit...

Dark but addictive listen for this duet

definitely struggled to finish because it was so dark and it is so hard to imagine anyone being so manipulated or controlled the way she was on multiple occasions. Was worth finishing but I'll rather not suffer it again.

Painful!!!!

Gawd! Don’t waste a credit! The FMC is masquerading as a strong character, but she’s just not. The MMC is a real jerk (understatement). I’m not a huge fan of the narrators, but they didn’t ruin the book. I’m just so incredibly disappointed bc I really love Stasia Black’s books, so I didn’t really investigate this one before purchasing. I should have. I can’t even call this book dark, it’s just poorly done. The MMC needs a punch in the face and a lawsuit. DNF.

Terrible
