I have not read the previous books in this series, but I was not lost at all. Story is well written. Mateo buys Aria in an auction after she is kidnapped. He is protective of his little captive, even when she does some majorly bratty stuff and makes some rather stupid decisions (She is in her 20's and he is in his 30's, so her behavior is typical for her age.) Even though he is morally grey and must appear "tough," he never disrespects or degrades Aria. No cheating on her. The dark part of the romance is his appetite for taking his unspoken feelings out on Aria in the bedroom (and she does not complain one bit about it. Wink* Wink) HEA ending- the narrators did a fantastic job.

This is book 3 in Snyder's Keeping What's Mine series and I loved it! The dual narration was wonderful in bringing main characters Mateo and Aria to life. I love how we start off with Aria being a bit reckless and spoiled only to be brought to the realization how protected she really was. Mateo is wonderful too as he's no good guy by any stretch of the imagination, but we see that he does have some morals and code that he lives by. I adore how hard he falls for her and the little ways they show each other. This is a dark mafia romance read with human trafficking and murder but also full of sweet and steam and lots of character growth as well. I definitely enjoyed and look forward to more from Snyder!

Keeping My Captive is the third book in Keeping Wha's Mine series. This book was amazing. Aria was taken and put into an auction. Mateo buys Aria and keeps her captive. He is very possessive of his little Captive.

Phillipa Miller and Duncan Prescott did a great job narrating this book.

Not what I was expecting! But definitely gripped my attention. Mateo and Aria have the tension you'd expect from being forced to stay somewhere you don't want to be, but their love becomes so real. There were a lot of situations that made me a little standoffish, but it is a mafia book so that is typical. Narrators brought the characters to life.

I have really enjoyed this series. But I absolutely DEVOURED this book. Mateo was such a bad man but so good to Aria. He first saw Aria when she was being auctioned to the highest bidder. The chemistry between them was palpable. This book had me intrigued by the first chapter with so twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat.

The narrators did amazing. They really brought Aria and Mateo to life.

I enjoyed listening to this but there was a little bit of a deja vu moments. Mateo rescues Aria by buying her from an auction. There is a back and forth between them as she hates him and wants him. He starts to feel things too. Love how he likes to rile her up and she doesn't care who he is and isn't afraid to talk back or ignore him. He is also very possessive and protective of her. This can be read as a standalone but there is side characters from previous books that you kinda get a glimpse of what happened.

Keeping My Captive is the 3rd book in the Keeping What's Mine series. This book is about Mateo and Aria and is told from both of their points of view.

Mateo and Aria meet when Aria is up for auction. Mateo wants nothing to do with these sales, but when he sees her he knows he has to protect her. He bids and wins her and now she is his captive. Aria will do anything to fight Mateo and get back to her family.

However, as their times goes on Aria realizes Mateo is more than just her captor. He's also her protector. He will do anything to keep her safe.

What happens when an unknown force comes after Aria? What happens when her family finally gets her back? Will Aria and Mateo get their happy ending? I loved this seeing this book go full circle, and seeing the characters from books one and two in this book as well.

This was an excellent listen by Angela Snyder. I couldn't wait to see how it would end. Loved the characters and storyline. Wasn't quite ready for it to end.

The narrators were cast perfectly for the roles. They brought this book to life.

This is the third book in the Keeping What’s Mine series, a dark mafia romance. It’s best enjoyed in series order. Mateo and Aria’s story is an emotional rollercoaster — intense, raw, and passionate, filled with danger, secrets, and dark twists. Mateo is enigmatic, ruthless, and fiercely protective, while Aria is naive yet strong, brave, and resilient. Their relationship unfolds in a way that might, at times, suggest shades of a Stockholm-like dynamic — though this is, of course, open to personal interpretation. The world-building is immersive, and some scenes are very dark and heart-wrenching (potential triggers). Phillipa Miller and Duncan Prescott were outstanding — their narration truly brought the characters and emotions to life. If you enjoy dark, emotional, and intense mafia romance, this series is for you. #PFPAudio

This was an odd combination of dark and sweet, and I loved it! While Mateo Navarro is the head of a Mexican cartel and all that entails, he has a soft spot for exploited women. He keeps it quiet, except when it comes to her.

Aria Vitale is in so far over her head, and I'm here for it. She's naïve and a bit foolish. Even still, I do admire her fire. She usually knows when to temper her sass, which is a saving grace.

Yes, the darkness sometimes made me squeamish in an ick way, but so much of it was scalding hot. Aye, aye, aye! 🔥🥵🔥 So. Very. Hot!

The twists were pretty obvious, but that didn't impact my enjoyment. They played out well, leaving me satisfied.

I do recommend reading the series in order, especially Nico and Selena's book, as there is overlap that may leave you scratching your head.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Phillipa Miller and Duncan Prescott. I enjoyed them both, but I really wish this was in duet. Duncan has a mild Spanish accent that really set him apart and was noticeably missing when it was Aria's POV.
