Vern Davenport is a Partner at QHP Capital, a pharma services and life sciences-focused private equity company based in Raleigh North Carolina, and is a seasoned executive with over 40 years of leadership experience across various industries. Before joining QHP Capital, Vern served as CEO and Board Member at Medfusion. Instrumental in the carve-out from Intuit, Vern steered Medfusion back to market prominence, solidifying its position as a leader in portal solutions. Additionally, he created a strong and engaging company culture, earning Medfusion a “Best Places to Work” award from the Triangle Business Journal. Before his time at Medfusion, Vern served as Chairman and CEO of Medquist, facilitating a transformation of the business through strategic acquisitions and a successful take-private process, rebranding the company as M*Modal. Vern's executive journey also includes pivotal roles at Allscripts, Misys Healthcare, Kodak Health Group (now Carestream Health), Siemens, and Shared Medical Systems. His visionary leadership and knack for navigating complex transitions were instrumental in shaping the trajectory of these organizations. With help from his colleagues at Misys Healthcare, Vern developed the Management System, a strategic framework that has facilitated seamless transitions and operational excellence across various enterprises. As one of the founders of QHP Capital, Vern has championed the adoption of this system, empowering over twenty portfolio companies to realize their full potential. Vern started his career at the tech giant IBM, where he honed his skills over 11 years in various sales, leadership, and executive management roles. This early immersion in the world of technology laid the groundwork for his subsequent ventures. Beyond his professional endeavors, Vern is deeply committed to community and education. He has served on the boards of prominent healthcare systems and chaired the board at his alma mater, East Carolina University. A proud Pirate at heart, Vern remains dedicated to fostering the next generation of leaders. Vern resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with his wife, Julie, and enjoys spending time with his six daughters and three grandchildren.
