ABOUT STEVE MACLELLAN - THE TALE OF TWO STEVES After graduating with a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, Steve travelled the world where he worked hard and played hard. Deep inside he knew he wanted to do something meaningful, but he just floated from place to place with no goals or destination in mind, always looking for a good time, feeling like the world owed him something. In 2009 he lost his job. At the same time, due to the barstool and HR financial advice that he listened to and followed, his stocks also took a nosedive. He was so broke that he couldn’t afford a plane ticket back home for his best friend’s wedding. When Steve finally got a job nine months later, he made himself a vow to the moon and stars that he would never put himself or loved ones in that financial situation again. He got a proper financial education, worked with a trusted financial advisor, and one of the best investments he made was marrying the lady who helped him during his down times of 2009. In 2014, when his engineering career came to a screaming halt due circumstances outside of his control, the new and improved Steve had more mouths to feed, the cost of living was higher mainly due to taxes, and he had a plan. Steve is now a self-proclaimed recovering engineer. A proud husband and parent of 3, he owns Design Your Future Financial Services, a value based financial firm focused on helping consultants, coaches, and small business owners pay less tax and make more money. Steve started out afraid, nervous, and without a clue on what to do or what to expect as a consultant. He had no experience or guidance. He did it mostly wrong, which is how he figured out how to do it right. His life has been a living laboratory of trial, error, failure, and success. Steve wrote this book to help save you lots of unnecessary pain and to significantly accelerate and keep your success—by helping you do it right the first time! Steve’s mission for this book and supporting resources is to help those who help others so they can grow, control, and keep what they build instead of giving it away to taxes, fees, loss, and the unknown. It is his belief that if we have more access and control of our own money, we will focus on what’s truly important – our health, our careers, and our relationships. This will make our communities even better.
