Born in Alquízar, Havana, Cuba, and resident in Spain, Rosa Marquetti Torres holds a degree in Philology from the University of Havana. Her professional involvement with Cuban music began in 1993 as an executive at the Pablo Milanés Foundation, the first private Afro-descendant institutional initiative in Cuban culture, and has since expanded to cover broad areas such as the recording industry, intellectual property, archiving, curatorship, production, consulting and musical supervision in films and documentaries; curatorship, and historiographic and musicographic research. Author of the books Chano Pozo: La vida (1915-1948), El Niño con su tres. Andrés Echevarría Callava, Niño Rivera; Desmemoriados Historias de la música cubana, Celia en Cuba (1925-1962) and Triunfar era la opción: 20 afrocubanas mujeres en la música del siglo XX. His texts and research on milestones, aspects and figures of Cuban music and its musical, historical and political contexts have been published in digital platforms, specialized and general magazines in Cuba, Colombia, Spain, France and the United States.
