Philip Auerswald is among the leading thinkers globally working at the intersection of entrepreneurship, technology, and public policy. He is a professor of public policy at the Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University; the co-chair and executive director of the Global Entrepreneurship Research Network; the cofounder and coeditor of Innovations, a quarterly journal about entrepreneurial solutions to global challenges published by MIT Press; the cofounder of the Policy Design Lab; and the cofounder and CEO of Zilla Global LLC, a venture dedicated to nurturing ecosystems opportunity around digital land records. Auerswald is the author or coauthor of nine books and over forty journal articles, book chapters, and professional reports. He has been an invited speaker in fifteen countries on five continents; has written op-eds or blogged for the Harvard Business Review, Forbes, The International Herald Tribune, and The San Francisco Chronicle; has been quoted in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and Slate; and has been interviewed on CBS News Sunday, NPR, and Fox, among other outlets. In 2014 he was invited to offer testimony in the first ever congressional hearing on the peer-to-peer (sharing) economy. In June 2013 Auerswald led the launch of the National Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (NCEI.US), an organization dedicated to using the National Mall in Washington DC as a platform to celebrate and support entrepreneurship and innovation in the United States. Prior to joining the faculty at George Mason University, Professor Auerswald was a lecturer and assistant director of the Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
