I started writing late in life. My first book, Paradise Beckons, all fiction, took a monumental effort. John or Is It Fred was much easier, but that may be because it was based on my husband's family, many of whom I knew. It was written during the 2020 lockdown, after my husband cleaned the garage and came across boxes of old family heirlooms, receipts, work passes and many items from the 1920' and 1930's. That led to creating a timeline for historical reference and research. It would be historical fiction based on the family. A few older relatives in their 80's and 90's were still alive and could contribute. Sometimes, their memories were conflicting, but researching old documents helped. My next book is about to be completed. It will be a sequel to Paradise Beckons, bringing alive those characters again was rewarding and a challenge. I was in business most of my career. We lived in the San Diego area for nearly 30 years and I was a business owner. We moved to northern California twenty years ago, and I again became a small business owner. Having lived through the woman's rights era of the 1960's and 70's, I can identify with the challenges of marriage, family and work. I have been married for over fifty years to the same wonderful man, have two sons and appreciate the attributes of men. I have three grandchildren, two being girls, which gave me a new perspective on raising daughters.
