Mohan Rango Rao is an accomplished businessman, an avid traveler, and a generous philanthropist. He has visited over thirty countries and is drawn to places of natural beauty and physically challenging trails. In his books, he shares his experiences of his inner and outer journeys, his thoughts about Eastern philosophy, and his treks and travels. His award-winning book, “Inner Trek: A Reluctant Pilgrim in the Himalayas,” is about his trek around Mount Kailash, a holy Tibetan mountain revered by over a billion people. What started as merely a challenging high-altitude trek soon became a life-changing adventure. Tragedy struck him early in life and shattered his belief in anything divine when he lost his blind daughter to cancer when she was nine. He shares his story in his second book, Myopia (2025), which he hopes will illustrate how to use personal tragedy to build inner strength. He plays tennis daily, takes frequent hikes, and reads anything from scotch labels to quantum physics to Vedanta.
