Michelle Sandlin is an award-winning writer and author who has been recognized for her poignant and insightful work across various genres, including journalism, poetry, and memoir writing. She penned a popular weekly column for the Houston Chronicle from 2013 to 2020, and her work has appeared in publications like the Houston Business Journal and Mobility Magazine. In June of 2021, Michelle’s life took a dramatic turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Much of her professional writing was put on hold so that she could focus on the fight. And fight she did. After undergoing 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, reconstruction surgeries, and the removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes, Michelle is now cancer-free! Her experience moved Michelle to write her first book, "Cancer Don’t Care," a bestselling memoir that not only chronicles her battle, but also serves as a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges. Her story is one of overcoming adversity and turning her diagnosis into a source of strength, positivity, and inspiration for others. Beyond her writing, Michelle has become a vocal advocate for breast cancer awareness, sharing her journey on various podcasts, blogs, and social media platforms. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Michelle studied Communication at LSU and later earned her BA in Journalism from the University of Houston.
