I am a sociologist and psychotherapist, specializing in the study of family relationships. I've counseled families, individuals, children and adolescents, as well as whole families and couples--and taught sociology and family studies on the college level. I am very interested in helping individuals and families attain a more healthy and happy life. My background includes a Master's (MA) degree in sociology from Kent State University, specializing in marriage and the family. I also received a Doctor of Divinity degree from the American Institute of Holistic Theology. I am a Fellow in the American Psychotherapy Association and a Certified Cognitive Therapist. I'm beginning to do more writing now, although I still see some clients in consultation. My recent book, Create a Healthy Lifestyle: Secrets of Health and Happiness, is published by Sunbury Press. I feel that every person really wants to be healthier and happier, no matter what condition you're in right now. The goal of this book is to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle in a more holistic way; that is to say: a healthy balance of mind, body, spirit and the social self. I also believe you will enjoy some of the case examples throughout this book, which explain how other people have worked through various problems. Besides enjoying time with my grandchildren, I'm still practicing mindful meditation. It's not easy to do, because of the many distractions and stresses in life. But I'm still working on it! I explain mindfulness and techniques of meditating, relaxing, and breathing in some chapters of the book.
