Marlena draws upon her 30 years of educational experience (18 in the classroom teaching in all grades, K-8), Cognitive Coaching, CAST Institute UDL training, and expertise with EduProtocols to inspire and excite teachers about the possibilities of quality instruction. Her gentle and supportive nature is well-received by educators of all grades. Marlena is the co-creator of EduProtocols and the co-author of The EduProtocol Field Guide books 1 and 2, and oversaw the writing of The EduProtocols Math Edition. Marlena holds a master’s degree in Reading Instruction, has been a district ELA coach, an ELA and English Language Learner Coordinator, and a Technology Integration Specialist at Fresno Superintendent of Schools for the past six years where she coached teachers in the central valley of California. Marlena has been named an EdTech Digest Trendsetter, is a Google Certified Trainer and Innovator, a Nearpod Certified Educator, and was selected as a New Teacher Support Provider of the Year. Marlena now lives in Maryland, where she consults with and trains districts and schools on implementing EduProtocols.
