Leon Wheeler Jr. is a dedicated individual who has committed his life to assisting others in navigating life's challenges. As a lifelong learner with a distinctive perspective, he has acquired valuable insights through personal experiences. His "Teach what you want to learn" philosophy guides his mission to become a masterful mentor. With an extensive 28-year background in navigating the streets of Southwest Detroit, specifically within the close-knit Delray community, Leon has encountered numerous obstacles, including multiple incidents of gunshot wounds and a lengthy 23-year prison sentence. During his incarceration, he engaged in rigorous self-education, devouring an extensive library of books spanning a wide array of topics aimed at self-improvement. His interests extended to literature on child-rearing, parenting, and African-American history. Leon's unwavering thirst for knowledge also led him to explore self-help literature, significantly contributing to his role as a mentor, brother, and friend to the young men he encountered. Through sheer determination and with the support of others, Leon successfully earned his GED while incarcerated. Subsequently, he pursued higher education at Wayne County Community College District, where he excelled and graduated at the top of his classes, earning an Associate of Arts degree. Armed with a wealth of knowledge and life experiences, Leon is now poised to launch a self-help podcast to share his unique perspective on life and engage in public speaking engagements. Leon's journey has equipped him with invaluable insights, and he is firmly committed to assisting others in achieving their goals with less adversity than he has endured. His book, "Codes and Ethics for Up-and-Coming Players," is a testament to his dedication and love for his mission. Leon seeks to empower individuals to surmount challenges and thrive personally through his podcast and public speaking initiatives.
