Judith writes romantic women's fiction, women's fiction set in the Pacific northwest, and an international mystery series. Her latest book, The Secret of Elk Horn Lodge, is a women's fiction family mystery. Following the death of her mother, Holly discovers they were in serious financial trouble. As she deals with her mother's debts, she finds a recent letter from the lawyers of her paternal grandfather, a man of whom she has no memory. Their request that she attend the reading of his will begins a chain of events that leads her to Vancouver Island's wild west coast, where she discovers her grandfather has left her an abandoned but quite wonderful old hunting lodge. The will stipulates, however, that she has only three months to find the co-inheritor of the lodge, a half-sister she has never known, or the whole inheritance goes to her grasping, previously unknown cousins, who are eager to claim her bequest. Judith's romantic women's fiction, the seven book Fortune Bay series, is set on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula. In each book, someone at a crossroads of their life moves into a rustic cabin on Majestic Lake where they work through their problems with the help of friends and family, and with the occasional nudge from the friendly spirit of Aunt Augusta. If a romance grows in the process, and it always does, so much the better. Finally, Judith's new Rocky and Bernadette Mystery series, published under the name of J.M. Hudson, is full of travel, mystery, and adventure. Rocky Falconi, a veteran photographer, and Bernadette Mallow, a novice travel writer, travel the world together getting into all kinds of trouble. The first book, Temple of the Jaguar, takes place in the Yucatan Peninsula, and the second book, coming out in 2022, takes place in Cremona, Italy. These books are cultural, travel mysteries that often draw on Bernadette's archeology background. Judith grew up in Toronto Canada and St. Louis MO, then moved to the Pacific Northwest where she now lives on beautiful Vancouver Island. As an landscape artist and photographer, the setting of the story is very important to Judy. "I've painted in the area for many years and I think it helps me make the Washington State and Vancouver Island settings real for the reader. This helps to draw them into the story. My characters are often artists, like Maddie, the darkroom photographer in Summer of Fortune who is at Fortune Bay for the summer to work on her first professional show, and Stephanie, the widowed matriarch of the Murphy clan who is finding a new life as a painter." Like Rocky and Bernadette, Judy has also worked as a travel writer and photographer, which proves invaluable in writing the travel mysteries. All books are available in paperback and eBook formats, as well as beginning to be available as audiobooks.
