My name is Justin Hill and I am an Author/ Writer from the streets of Detroit. I’m 36 years old and been through a lot like most but remained focus how a man is suppose too. I served 8.5yrs in prison for what I call childish charges such as drugs and a gun. I call it childish now because I am an adult and I know better… Unlike most people, while serving 8.5 years prison time I developed a talent which is writing. I began writing books and after passing my first book around and getting the best reviews on it I decided to continue writing. After serving the 8.5 years in prison I came home and made what had became a hobby in there a career path out here. I have currently 5 books that has been published by myself and they can all be found on Amazon and Kindle. Besides writing being a pure passion for me, my goal and mission is to show young people that even after making bad decisions, prison or jail that things can still go the right away upon your arrival back to society. I am living proof and this is my testimony. Just because you go to prison or make mistakes does not mean that your life is over, we can change the narrative but we have to be ready to change it as well. By me being from the streets of Detroit I make a big influence on the culture. I’m putting books in young brothers hands. I’ve traveled everywhere in Detroit to Dope houses, Drug Spots, the corners where kids were hustling and put books in their hands and because I’ve been where I been they have no choice but to respect me. I’ve made some of the same bad decisions the kids today made and I’m living proof the outcome could one day change. When I left for prison I was 23yrs old and had a 6week old baby I was leaving. When I came home she was almost nine and I was 31 yrs old. After a year and a half after my release my mother passed away from Covid and here I am still standing strong! I have a book release coming up July 22nd at Good Times on the Ave 7-10pm and Detroit has never seen someone come like this for books🔥📚!! I’m making reading cool again!! My reason in continuing to release books is because I just want a chance to tell my positive story to the communities of Detroit. I want them to see that even after making a bad decision, prison or whatever it may be that things will get better if you want them too!
