About this listen

When Simon walks into Jay's bar for a drink, he never expects to find himself having an afternoon quickie in the back room. Although attracted to the hot bartender, Simon's never had a real relationship and isn't ready for that kind of commitment.

Jay is ready for Mr. Right, and when he meets hot, hunky Simon, he believes he's found his match. But convincing the reserved man that their brief encounter could become something more will take all his persuasive skills.

Jay is blue collar Irish. Simon is from an African American society family. Can two men from such different backgrounds find common ground? Undeniable magnetism attracts them, but only love can keep them together.

Undeniable Magnetism

I listened to this book because of a romance reading challenge and have to say I was pleasantly surprised with it. It is a story about the struggle to "Come out" and worries about the reactions that both family and friends will have when that happens. It is also about love that you find in common places even though you aren't looking.

I am so glad I listened to this book, the last few MM romance I have listened to they were very predictable and this wasn’t!

I loved that Jay is very comfortable with who he is and wouldn’t accept what his family thought he just kept coming around. Who does that! Jay that’s who, and his reasoning awesome!

Simon didn’t surprise me that he wasn’t “out” yet but I really liked that he trusted Jay and even though he pushed him a little it was all for the good.

This book just made my heart happy and who doesn’t love a book that does that.

Also, the narration was really well done.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Amazing!

I hardly know where to start. This was the most insightful and real, coming out/becoming who you were met to be, story I've ever read. Everyone has that moment when they have to cut the apron strings and fly. Whether gay, straight, or somewhere in between, we all have to tell our parents who we are and demand respect for our choices. In some ways, we all disappoint our parents, it's all part of each life's journey. Bonnie Dee let us walk with Simon and Jay as they began their life's journey and it was beautiful and poignant.

I HIGHLY recommend this book

It's ok

This wasn't a terrible book, or a great one. It was ok. I felt like I didn't understand Jay's behavior well enough. Why was he so willing to have a quickie in the first place? Was this history of hunches/premonitions something he really relied on? He only seemed to have the one. The family interactions felt genuine and the MCs love for each other felt real, but the initial premise of the story seemed a little far fetched.

This book was so much more than I expected it to be. I chose it as a part of the Audible Category Challenge and I'm so glad I did. I love a good Love story! This book was so sweet, sexy and generally a feel good book. I enjoy M/M books a lot so when I was searching through the African American Romance category searching for a book and came across this one I thought I'd give it a try and it was a great choice. I loved how opposite Jay & Simon are in every way and they make it look easy. They deal with real life obstacles and do it with pride and mostly show a lot of maturity. I think that is what I liked so much, it wasn't a poor me look what I have to deal with kind of story but a this is me deal with it story. When it was over I was smiling and happy for these two.

The narration was great! Richard Franklin really did an excellent job differentiating between the characters!

Loved it!

I love stories that contain some of the difficulties and complexities of interracial relationships. This was a great story! Hot!

Good, with a HEA but abrupt ending.

This was an unexpected story for me and not how I thought it was going to go, the characters and story had a good real feel to them and I liked it but wish there was a just a bit more. I wish we would have gotten a resolution to some of the issues, instead of the abrupt ending. The timeline also moved along pretty quickly with weeks and months just flying by. The narrator did a great job and made it an enjoyable listen.

opens with an extremely racist description

of the black character. I was going to overlook the comparing our complexions to food thing, but then the author went on about the whites of his eyes ~ gleaming in the dark ~ a description that harkens back to Minstrelry and spook jokes. I noped out at that point.
