About this listen

On the roof of a house outside Truelove, Maine, master carpenter Max Doyle looks down through a skylight and sees the most beautiful woman he's ever laid eyes on. She's naked, she's gorgeous, and everything about her is perfect, down to the ball-busting tattoo of a rose that wraps around her hip. But it isn't just any woman making his knees buckle. It's his best friend, Rosie Madden. And as he stands there, mesmerized and precariously close to toppling off the roof, he knows he'll never, ever be able to look at her the same way again.

Rosie can't help but notice that Max is suddenly acting very strange - lots of long stares, totally tongue-tied, and not at all like the slightly cocky hunk she's proud to call her best friend. She can't figure it out until later that night, when Max rescues her from the world's worst date, challenges her to a game of pool, and shows her just exactly what she's got him thinking about. Repeatedly. But life is complicated. Rosie's cat, Julia Caesar, wants to eat Max's dog, Cupcake, for an afternoon snack. A dream job threatens to pull them apart. And another glance through the skylight changes everything one more time. Yet try as they might, they can't go back to being just friends, because falling in love with the one you've always adored? It feels so good.

Awesome narrators!

Have you listened to any of Felicity Munroe and Rock Engle ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I loved their performances for this book. They really brought the characters to life!

Any additional comments?

Loved this book but I loved it even more after the incredible performances by Rock Engle and Felicity Munroe.

The book you must listen to

LISTEN TO THIS BOOK. That's right, LISTEN. Use your ears not your eyes. I don't say that often, but in the case of So Good I am saying it.

Rock Engle and Felicity Munroe didn't just read the story off the pages, the ACTED the story. The deep breaths, the sighs, the excitement, the nervousness. You could hear it all. It was more like listening to a movie while cleaning the house (you know, when you're doing everything but watch the movie, so you only hear it? That.) than listening to someone read a book. And that made everything that much more fun.

The storyline is one you've read before. Best friends-to-lovers. One day, something changes, and then BAM they realize they need each other in all aspects of their lives and not just the best friend role. That happens for Max and Rosie. And it's sweet and fun and I wish I had had a best friend like Max because he's hot and swoony and all alpha.

I should talk about the pets. Because it's not often two animals steal the show, but it almost happens here. Julia Caesar is Rosie's cat. Cupcake is Max's dog. It's not love at first sight for those two, but it is 100% amusing. And as side characters? Totally awesome. I mean, the only other character is the guy who runs the bar. He seems to be the strong, silent type. Does he have a book?

Anyway, the bartender is not the point. The point is friends-to-lovers. That's what you get here. It's perfect.

But remember.

LISTEN TO IT.

Hot, Hot, Hot story to savor & swoon over!

So Good is a super swoony, sweet friends to lovers tale. An accidental view shows Max a different side of Rosie and his eyes are opened to what has been right in front of him all along.

"I had to get out of there. I needed a cold shower, or a call from my tax guy, or an unexpectedly urgent trip to the DMV—anything to stop myself seeing her stark naked every g-d time I looked at her."

I was drawn into the story by the incredible humor and then captivated by the characters including Julia Caesar, the cat and Cupcake, the cutest dog. Max is a bit of a pushy alpha, but protective and thoughtful to a fault. Rosie is kind and independent, an awesome heroine who deserves her HEA.

“You know, I never really had crushes.” He straightened out his dessert spoon and lifted his eyes to meet mine. “Because I think it was always you.”

Nicola Rendell has again given us a sweet, funny and Hot, Hot, Hot story to savor and swoon over. And chosen the perfect narrators to bring the story to life!!

cute and simple romance

Cute and sweet friends to lovers romance. Rosie and Max are best friends and cute together, I enjoyed the characters but I think I just wanted more to happen. Once everything started, it was kind of smooth sailing and I think I needed some action or drama to break up the cheese fest. Julia Caesar was awesome, I love it when animals or pets have such strong personalities. Felicity Munroe and Rock Engle both had great voices for their own characters but there was something that turned me off of Rock Engle’s female voice for Felicity, it seemed extra whiny.

Funny, sweet and romantic

So Good features the sweet friends to lovers romance between Max and Rosie. They've known each other forever and only took one glimpse of Rosie's beautiful body and a failure of a date for Rosie for them to realize they needed to add some romance to their friendship to have what they really needed in their lives.

I enjoyed the sweetness, the romance and the comedy in this book so much. The addition of the pets was perfect, I always love cute animals with great personalities in books. Max and Rosie's friendship was great and when they started their romantic relationship, I loved it even more.

Felicity Munroe and Rock Engle's performances were great, tho the pacing was a little slow for Rock. I had to set the speed a little faster than usual in his chapters, but aside from that, their tone of voices and inflections were perfect for the characters' personalities.

100% recommended.

Terrific best friends to lovers story!

I originally wrote this review back in February, I don't know why it's not posted, so here it is again!

What did you love best about So Good?
I love Rosie and Max! I'm jealous of their friendship and how easily they went from being best friends to lovers, without any drama or weirdness.
I forgot how dirty they are together, my lord!

What did you like best about this story?
Max and Cupcake- so freaking cute! Here you have this incredibly masculine man who was completely taken with this teeny tiny little dog. It made me swoon how sweet he was with her!

Which character – as performed by Felicity Munroe and Rock Engle – was your favorite?
They both did a fantastic job, but I think Rock as Max was my favorite. I really enjoyed his narration, and how you could hear just enough of the New England accent without it being overbearing. Great job by both of them!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I loved how protective Max was with Rosie, and how once they crossed the line from friends he was all in! I loved how he wanted to take care of her, without crowding her. And seriously, the way that man took care of Cupcake??? How could you not fall in love!

Any additional comments?
I read this when the ebook was released and gave it 4.5*- after listening to it I'm not sure why I knocked off the half star, but the audio is 5* all around!

One of the BEST MALE NARRATORS EVER!

This might be my favorite book that I've read this year. I mean, I wish we got to know more about Max and Rosie's parents and upbringing, etc. but... I'm floored. I have never read a better alpha hero - strong and authoritative in the right way. Max loves Rosie so hard and so well; all he wants to do is take care of her and make sure that she's happy and that genuinely makes him happy. And Rosie is the perfect kind of quirky and relatable heroine. The steamy bits were unlike any others that I've read before and I AM SO HERE FOR IT! I also love that they're my age so I could really relate to the pop culture references from their past and just felt more in the pocket as far as relating to who they are as people. That also made the book a lot more real for me. I know that this is fiction, but it just reaffirmed something in my soul about love and expectations that may have been life changing. So yeah... 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Can Not Tell a Book By Its Cover

I purchased this book due to the cover! I had finally listened to a 2013 book read by Felicity Monroe, who I am not a fan but liked the premise of Fatal Force, which turned out to be a fairly good listen. Not sure why I looked at more narrations from Ms Monroe, but I happen to see this book cover. I am a push over for stories with hunks and small dogs that cuddle eg. Karin Slaughters Will Trent series with Betty his small chihuahua.
As this book was on the Members 70% thank you sale, I thought ok. However after perusing a few chapters, found the profanity was unreal, who talks with the F bomb in every sentence??? Ok some people do, I for one do not want it in a romance story, when it adds absolutely nothing!. Such a shame as the premise was cute and who does not like a hunk with a cuddling small dog?
I own many of Joanna Wilde, Reapers MC, and yes that has the appropriate amount of profanity as the genre calls for in a story. Those are well written.
This not so much!

Honestly …

This story was sooooo ridiculous. The guy performer was great…the female …ahhh Sounded a bit weird. The story in general was ridiculous…a friends to lovers done wrong…and the problems they encounter seemed sooo high school.
