About this listen

Jinx Jett is a rock superstar. As such, the hunky Skull Blasters drummer thoroughly enjoys the many perks of willing groupies, earning him a reputation as the band slut. Making it big and scoring hot women is something Jinx never expected. There's a little voice in the back of his mind constantly reminding him of how he used to be - shy, overweight and acne prone. One night in a gay bar turns life upside down when Jinx runs into Jayden Dempsey, a kid he's been fantasizing about since giving him his autograph at a mall. Long-held insecurities keep Jinx from fully committing to anyone, and he may lose Jayden if he can't put his past behind him.

Jayden Dempsey always wanted out of his life in small-town Alabama. When his parents kicked him out after he told them he was gay, Jayden decided the time was right to move on. He crosses the country to try out for Singers!, a show that propels unknowns to stardom. In a twist, producers choose him and three others as winners and form a boy band called London Boys. This season, the show brings Jayden and the guys back for the finale. Surprise! The contest's heavy metal finalist will be singing with Skull Blasters.

Jinx and Jayden's initial meeting doesn't go so well, and Jayden's stunned when the guy he's crushed on for years turns out to be a total jerk. It doesn't stop him from falling into Jinx's arms every time they're alone, but Jayden didn't sign on for one-nighters. He wants Jinx Jett, baggage, and all. Can a former teen outcast put rejection behind him and embrace the acceptance standing right in front of him? How much will one boy bander put up with from his rock idol before enough is enough? Can they make it work? Or are they jinxed in love?

not as romantic as book one

this book was way too long. book one is much better with more compelling characters. also, its hard to believing a glory hole beginning will lead to a lifetime romance

Love Sandrine!

I really enjoyed Fret and was excited to get Jinx’s story.

This was such a surprising book for me – I’m not sure what I was expecting – but it wasn’t this. There was more depth and emotion in this than I expected from Jinx. He’s such a slut and he even starts the story out with a case of crabs! When he sees how Gareth and Alex are doing as an out and proud couple he begins to long for something with more depth in his own relationships.

At one point – in an almost flashback moment – Jinx meets Jayden at a music store (before Jayden is “discovered”) and Jayden’s fanboying on him sticks with him long past the event. When he VERY COINICIDENTALLY meets Jayden again at a gay bar he instantly remembers him and the two share some hot and heavy moments together.

Jayden knows Jinx’s reputation and protects his heart by leaving without an explanation but when the two bands are thrown together professionally, their mutual infatuation becomes clear.

But things won’t be easy for them – Jayden is leery of being someone’s “secret”, Jinx isn’t sure what he wants, and then there’s the fact that Jinx hates boy bands…

**

The book involves way more emotion than I was expecting. It has the hot times I was expecting but also some really touching times between Jayden and Jinx.

I actually liked Jinx more than Jayden by the end of the story. I think he really grew throughout the book.

If you’re a fan of the author or this series I highly recommend it and to those who are unfamiliar with either – have you been hiding under a rock?!? Sandrine is a very prolific writer who has a way with alpha males and their sassy partners. I love the “love” in Sandrine’s stories – you know when you get one of her books that there will always be plenty of feels to go with the hot times and usually some humor and possibly some danger. The rock series is great because the focus is on music and so fans of rocker love stories will enjoy this for that reason. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series in order.

Audio
Klaus does a really great job giving the individual band members a unique voice this time around. His British accent is pretty good and I loved the time we get with Jayden’s band. I don’t love his narration when it doesn’t involve dialog… it’s a little too flat for my taste – but he does a nice job with dialog and the emotions in the story.
