About this listen
Above an exclusive men's store on Rodeo Drive, there is a private club called Butterfly, where women are free to act out their secret erotic fantasies. Only the most beautiful and powerful women in Beverly Hills are invited to join.
Jessica - the lawyer who longs for the days when men were men and women dressed to please them. Trudie - the builder who wants a man who will challenge her - all of her - with no holds barred. Linda - the surgeon who uses masks to unmask the desires she hides even from herself.
But the most mysterious of them all is the woman who created Butterfly. She has changed her name, her accent, even her face to hide her true identity. And now she is about to reveal everything to realize the dream that has driven her since childhood.

Story
Just my luck - my new next door neighbor is a unicorn. Yep, the British hottie is clearly a mythical man because - get this - he's a sexy, witty, charming, big-hearted single dad. Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched. He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he's a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever done this. Written a racy message and sent it to—oops—the wrong person. Yeah, me too. Except, I sent my latest Tales of a Naughty Virgin column detailing my fantasies about my hot, charming, thoroughly bangable next-door-neighbor to…my entire company. Did I mention I’m a children’s book editor? Well, I was. *Facepalm.* At least the column goes viral, but I’m still the gal who gets fired for her not-safe-for-work thoughts about the so-called “Mister Sexy Pants”.

I'm single...so single it's painful. Yup, ladies, Brig Knightly - that's me - is still a lonely bachelor, stumbling through the streets of Port Snow, looking for the girl he's supposed to end up with. That is, I was until my brother, Rogan, presented me with the opportunity of a lifetime. The Summer of Love, a secret pen-pal program in Port Snow is looking for applicants, and I'm the perfect fit. I couldn't sign up fast enough. I found myself quickly falling in love with a pair of red lips at the bottom of a letter...just like in the movies.

Andrew Jakes, an elderly multimillionaire art dealer, had been brutally murdered in his Hollywood home, his lifeless body tied to his naked young wife. Raped and beaten, the lovely Angela Jakes had barely survived the attack herself. Gazing into her deep, soulful eyes, Danny swore that he'd find the psychopath behind this barbarous act.

In a small Mississippi town, Harriet Cleve Dusfresnes grows up in the shadow of her brother, who—when she was only a baby—was found hanging dead from a black-tupelo tree in their yard. His killer was never identified, nor has his family, in the years since, recovered from the tragedy. For Harriet, who has grown up largely unsupervised, in a world of her own imagination, her brother is a link to a glorious past she has only heard stories about or glimpsed in photograph albums.

Termed the Uncle Tom's Cabin of the southwestern Indians and the first protest novel of California, Ramona is the story of 3 cultures - Indian, Mexican, and Anglo - locked in combat. The upheaval and injustice are humanized through the romance of a beautiful half-Indian orphan who grow up as the ward of Señora Moreno in privileged surroundings, then falls in love with an Indian and joins him in a life of poverty and tragedy. The Ramona Pageant in Hemet, California, based on this romance, has played each year since 1923, reenacting the transition period between Mexican traditions and the new U.S. and state governments.

Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me.

Steamy
This book was very well written and held me craving for more.
The story often jumped from time period to time period. A male voice would have been nice for the male parts. Transitions between chapters would have kept me engaged instead of trying to remember how that chapter’s character fit into the big picture

A welcome blast from the past
I first read this book when I was 21/22 years old. I loved it back then. It has always been one of my favorite books because well who doesn't love a book with a strong heroine. The narrator nailed her performance. Thank you Audible for bringing this book to life for me.

Would give it a higher rating if possible!
Read this book probably 10 years ago always been one of my favorites. Saw it on audible and I couldn’t wait to see if it was as good as remembered. It definitely did not disappoint so happy I now have it on kindle and audible forever 🥰

Kept me guessing
What a great book. lots of HEAs and all just what I would've liked to see. I only have one complaint. While Ms. Jennings was mostly a good performer, mispronouncing too many words and pausing in awkward places too away some of my enjoyment. Not enough to stop listening though!

A Favorite
This book has been a favorite of mine since I checked it out at my local library in middle school in the early 2000s. So many twists. Such steamy chapters. Will be listening and reading this books for years to come.
