About this listen

When Kidd - artist, computer whiz, and professional criminal - learns of a colleague's murder, he doesn't buy the official story: that a jittery security guard caught the hacker raiding the files of a high-tech Texas corporation. It's not what his friend was looking for that got him killed. It's what he already knew. For Kidd and LuEllen, infiltrating the firm is the first move. Discovering the secrets of its devious entrepreneur is the next. But it's more than a secret....

It's a conspiracy. And it's landed Kidd and LuEllen in the cross-hairs of an unknown assassin hellbent on conning the life out of the ultimate con artists....

Not Davenport

When I have tried a Sanford book other than Davenport and Flowers I am very disappointed. I do love all of those, but Kidd, are you Kidding? This one just leaves me flat and in fact I think I read this back in the paper library days. Maybe I'll finish this when I am totally desperate. Anyway, you just can't write a book about computer tech and think it will last for ten years.

Not my first choice

I am 9 chapters in and apparently didn’t read the 1st 2 books in the series. I don’t know how I will get through this with this narrator. I’m going to be very sad if his voice is like this in other books. I also find that I prefer Davenport and Flowers way more than Kidd. I miss the MN references.

Unlike other Sandford novels, this felt disjointed

I found this novel more disjointed than the typical Sandford novel. So, I enjoyed it less. However, the tech ideas were engaging.

Ok read waiting for Davenport or Flowers

Richard Ferrone was great is usually is but the subject matter was a little bit tedious. Perhaps if Lucas or Virgil had been consulted things might have spit up a little bit. I listen to the first half of this book and then actually listen to the next book in this series before I realized I had not finished this one. with most of John Sandford books I don't stop listening until I'm finished with the book period still while waiting for Lucas and Virgil to reappear it was worth listening

Really really should have a different narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Having a hard time finishing it.

Would you be willing to try another book from John Sandford? Why or why not?

I really enjoy Sanford’s Davenport series but not getting a different narrator was a HUGE mistake. The first 2hrs i kept expecting Lucas behaviors/snark. The next couple of hours I I just couldn’t get into it. Wrong voice for the dialogue made it easy to tune out. Have 3hr left and am taking a break.

What aspect of Richard Ferrone’s performance would you have changed?

He does a wonderful job he just shouldn’t do different main characters from the same author.

Another John Sandford masterwork.

Another John Sandford masterwork. It' s full of tense drama with enough credible data to keep the story moving and very interesting.

No Lucas but “K” was just fine!

I enjoyed this story as I do almost all of Sanford’s novels and I am aware that this might be greatly influenced by the great narrator! At first I’ll admit I wasn’t sure I would stick with it cause I was wanting Lucas and the gang, but I soon was deeply involved in the story and enjoyed it.
