About this listen

Aimee Monroe never considered dating her boss. She needs a new beginning, not a big mistake. However when handsome business lawyer Kenton McDonnell asks her to a dinner date with a new client and his wife, she finds it hard to say no. After one incredible night with Kenton, her attempt at a fresh start is ripped away when she returns home to find her abusive ex-husband waiting for her.

Kenton has wanted Aimee since the day she walked into her interview. Now he has the chance to make her his, and nothing or no one is going to stand in his way. Especially not the ex-husband newly released from prison who has revenge in his sights.

short and sweet.

Do you have any additional comments?

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian I Dig Good Books.

**audio review**

I've only READ one of Lia Davis books, and it was a short and swett little vampire novella. This is another short and sweet book, 68 pages, prob about an hour reading time, but I'm reviewing the audio version which is just under 2 hours.

Aimee has been recovering from an abusive marriage, ex is in jail and she is fianlly finding herself again. Her boss, Kenton, invites her on a business dinner, now that he is free to persue Aimee as he has wished to for 5 years. But Aimee's ex gets parolled and returns to finish what he started all those years ago.

Deliciously short, but it packs a punch, quite literally. I cringed at some points, physically feeling what happened to Aimee at points, but equally cheered when it was needed. You get all of Aimme's feelings and Kenton's too, told in the third person. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I've not listened to many female narrators, I have a hearing issue that is specific to speech tones, so a male voice is easier for me to hear. HOWEVER, Naomi Hoffman narrates this tale beautifully. She is clear and concise in her words, but still, the feel of the book comes across with every word. Her character's voices are different and easily distinguishable from each other.

I will certainly be looking out for more books written by Lia and narrated by Naomi.

4 stars for the book and 4 for the narration.

It was short...a plus...

Just okay. The narrator did a decent job, but everyone under the sun telling Aimee that they "just knew" she and HER BOSS would make a fantastic couple (she'd worked for him for 5 years, and he had just gotten out of a semi-serious relationship that day) was a bit over the top. I suppose it doesn't really qualify as insta-love, since they did know each other 5 years by that point, but it still felt like it.

The ex-husband plotline was a bit problematic, but okay--a lawyer asking another lawyer if Aimee'd get off for killing the ex, though? Red flags all over the place.

Definitely not my favorite by this author. Her Sons of War series is much more my cup of tea.

Good story

Good story that manages to pack all sorts of emotions into a relatively short book.

Monkey business is so hot.

Would you consider the audio edition of Business Pleasures to be better than the print version?

Yes, it was so cool to hear the different voices of the characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sorry, I loved them all. Don't make me chose.

Any additional comments?

This is a wonderful story, did not want to stop listening to go to work. The story is hot and takes you with the characters thru the rollercoaster ride to the end.
