About this listen

When private investigator Lana Parker follows a dangerous biker into an underground sex club, James Hunter is the last man she expects to see. But there he is, all dark looks and chiseled charms, ready to break her heart all over again. Danger is the name of the game for an undercover cop. And the last thing James wants is for the fiery beauty to come anywhere near the notorious biker gang he's trying to take down. Yet Lana has no intention of giving up her case, which means that he'll have to keep her close to keep her safe. It's a risky proposition, especially when their blazing sexual chemistry reignites an unforgettable passion.

Very Cheesy

I must admit that this novel was a serious disappointment; almost silly. It was predictable, the characters were shallow and the narration was only so so.
I think my credit could have been spent better elsewhere.

Great Story! Loved James and Lana.

I loved the story of how James walked away from Lana only hugely regretting it as soon as he sees her 2 years later. Lana seems to have the back bone made of steel whenever she needs it. Lana's back bone begins failing her when she sees James again. James is the same, but different at the same time.
Lana's heart break at James's disappearing act 2 years earlier reminds Lana of what she needs and must do to protect her heart and continue the job she's being paid to do...get proof of a husband cheating.

For me, I get really annoyed with the so-called "best friend". This one especially. Big mouth, lack of true loyalty and a know it all who really doesn't know all or even have her own relationship or experience with a relationship to be giving her own advice on what her "bestie" should do. She also talked to damned much about nothing and everything. Really took the story in a direction it didn't need to go. It didn't add anything to the story unless you were trying to make sure a certain word count was achieved.

I liked the narration but would have enjoyed the story more if it had had a dual narration of both female and male narration.

Glad this one was included in the romance pkg otherwise I would have skipped over it and chosen a different story. This wasn't as good as the first one "Legal Heat". I think because of Lana's "best friend". Suppose I disliked Jackie in the story more than I realized. It made me want to skip over parts that had Jackie in it. Her character was unnecessary and just took away from the story as a whole.

Would I recommend this book to anyone??? I'm not sure. It was about 85% great and 15% worthless. It could have been as good as the first book of the series if only this author had left out the impulse to add in a best friend. Too many times it seems that authors add in this unnecessary aspect to the story they are writing and all the "best friends" seem to have the same traits...big mouths, lack of true loyalty and no real relationship experience but seem compelled to tell her friend what and how to do the right thing in order to keep the relationship going or to receive the HEA. This of course reduces the strength and intelligence of the main female character in any given story. Major disappointment and yet authors seem to do this over and over again.

DNF

I did not finish this book. I found the two main characters interesting in Legal Heat. Lana was fun and exciting. James was take charge and moody. It was a fun combination. However, the author made Lana whiney and insecure in this book. The author made James inconsistent in this book. Both characters were not interesting in this book. I hated the biker stuff. She could have left that out.
