  • God, Sex, and Rich People with Mattie Jo Cowsert
    Sep 10 2024

Mattie Jo Cowsert is an actor and author. I think the courage she displays unpacking her story around, you guessed it, God, sex, and rich people is something that a lot of people are going to benefit from. I love her spirit and her energy for finding healthy ways forward for young people (all people). We had a lot of fun on this episode.

Her book is out today (as of the release of this episode). I hope you'll find it. God, Sex, and Rich People: A Recovering Evangelical Testimony. Also, find Mattie Jo at mattiejocowsert.com and or follow her on social media like I do. :)

Meanwhile, feel free to subscribe to my substack newsletter. It'd be fun to have you. Oh, and it'd be awesome to see you at Theology Beer Camp this October. Make sure you introduce yourself!

  • Poet, Author, Darrell Epp and his new book: Alien Phonics Primer!
    Jul 30 2024

We're talking art, poetry, life and some theology with the poet and author, Darrell Epp. I had a chance to read his brand new book (out today) called Alien Phonics Primer.

Darrell's writing is super interesting, fun, subversive, and meaningful. And, not to be overlooked ... it's all in lowercase! I hope you'll pick up a copy of the book which is all over the internet and follow him on X @DarrellEpp.

  • Beer, the NBA, and Open and Relational Theology with Tripp Fuller
    Jun 24 2024

Has anyone in the English-speaking world done more to advance the idea of process-influenced open and relational theology than Tripp Fuller? Hmm, probably not. The good Dr. Fuller is an author, podcaster, thinker, and world-class academician. And he joins me today to talk a little NBA, beer, Al Whitehead, and all things open and relational theology.

Find him all over the interwebs, but principally on the Homebrewed Christianity podcast. Also, make sure to plug into the Tripp-led Theology Beer Camp. When you do, you might as well get some money off, so use my promo code: FOSTERFRODO.

Thanks everyone. Don't forget to subscribe and leave some stars. No really, that'd be awesome.

    Peace,
    J

  • Open & Relational Theology and My Muslim Friends: Saida Mirsadri & Jared Morningstar
    Jun 4 2024

With it's emphasis of relation over substance and possibility over predetermined endings, open and relational theology provides a way forward for both Muslims and Christians. I became even more convinced is the reality as I was editing a recent SacraSage Press book entitled Open and Relational Theology and its Social and Political Implications: Muslim and Christian Perspectives.

Two of the contributors to the book, Saidi Mirsadri and Jared Morningstar join me today to talk about all things ORT related, the Islamic faith, what they wish Christians knew about Muslims, and more. It was an honor to interact with these two human beings. Saidi is an writer, thinker, and Research Associate at the University of Bonn and Jared is also a writer, and the Communications Director at the Center for Process Studies and Operations Assistant at the Cobb Institute. For more information, see jaredmorningstar.com

Meanwhile, if you like the show, subscribe and leave some stars and reviews! And if you want to hear more, feel free to support this show and a handful of other podcasts that are doing progressive, liberating, affirming work within a network called the QuoirCast by supporting our Patreon page here.

  • An Open and Relational Theological Conversation with Dr. Marjorie Suchocki
    May 13 2024

It was such an honor to have a conversation with the venerable Dr. Marjorie Hewit Suchocki about compassion, prayer, sex, justice, power, and theology. Marjorie is an author, United Methodist professor emerita of theology at Claremont School of Theology, and one of the most important process theologians of the 20th century, though here we are well into the 21st century, and she's still going strong! Recently, I read her book, In God's Presence and found it helpful regarding prayer in the open and relational tradition.

Our conversation partner today (making her second appearance on the J_F podcast), is my friend, Shaleen Kendrick. I hope you'll check out her website.

Hey, make sure to use the promo code FOSTERFRODO to get some $ off for Theology Beer Camp this October in Denver.

If you're looking for ways to think through mimetic theory in concert with open and relational theology (and who isn't?), you should check out Theology of Consent: Mimetic Theory in an Open and Relational Universe.

Thanks for your time. Consider leaving some stars and a review for this episode. No, really. Think about it.

    Peace,
    Jonathan
