  • EP 234 Kelli & Anne head to Louisiana for the Thanksgiving holiday!
    Dec 6 2024

Join Anne & Kelli for their 234th NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast. They are again podcasting from home!

They start by wishing a happy birthday to Anne’s Musical Director and bestie Will. They wish him the best day and year ahead and can’t wait to continue to travel the world with him.

Before getting to the holidays, they first talk about going to see the movie Wicked! They went to the IPIC theater at Fulton Street in Manhattan that serves drinks and food and had the most amazing time. They loved the movie and the performances and highly recommend it to everyone!

Now they get to heading down to Louisiana for the Thanksgiving holiday. They started in New Orleans where they stayed at their favorite hotel there, The Ritz Carlton. They love the club level there and all of the fabulous holiday decorations. They had wonderful lunches and dinners with Kelli’s brother Charles and sister-in-law Kath, got Botox from Kelli’s sister Claire at her practice, Audubon Facial Plastics, and had a family dinner at Peche.

Next, they headed to Baton Rouge for the first Thanksgiving since losing Kelli’s father Joel. They knew it would be an emotional trip but it felt so good to be surrounded by their huge family. Every night was a different theme dinner night from Lebanese to Mexican. Thanksgiving Day started with the Macy’s Day Parade and then a lunch in the country at Kelli’s birth father Charles’ home surrounded by that huge family with lots of young children to enjoy. They then headed back to Kelli’s Mom Melanie’s house for their traditional Thanksgiving dinner. This was where Joe’s presence was missed the most as he always carved the turkey, did the blessing and led a circle up with everyone saying what they are grateful for that year. Melanie did a great job leading the prayer and saying something beautiful to honor Joel. After dinner we all watched the Green Bay Packers win to make the night end in the absolute best way!

The rest of the weekend started with the cousins annual Black Friday shopping trip. While they were away, Kelli’s brother Charles made his delicious Chicken and Andouille Gumbo for dinner that night. It also happened to be their daughter Vivi’s 22nd birthday and Charles’ 55th birthday so they had a cake after dinner. Now that all the cousins are young adults, they decided to take Vivi out for her birthday and lucky for her, our son Blake offered to be the sober driver. They all had quite a night and Blake and his wife Teresa ended up being more of babysitters than they expected. Needless to say, everyone but Blake was totally hungover the next day. They all headed to the airport on Saturday with some flight delays, but even so, they were happy to be back home again.

Finally, they talk about what comes next for them. Mostly they are excited to be home now through the holidays. They will start packing for their big move after Christmas and they are not looking forward to that. Anne also talks about her next concert that is coming up in Ft Lauderdale at Sunshine Cathedral on Feb 1st. You can find all of Anne’s tour dates and info at www.annesteele.com

  • EP 233 Anne & Kelli hit the road again including road tripping across the desert!
    Nov 22 2024
Join Anne & Kelli for their 233rd NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast. They are again podcasting from home. They start by addressing their feelings post-election and their disappointment in the direction that our country continues to go. They have taken a break from the news and are focusing on staying connected to their friends and family that continue to support each other in these complicated times. They also talk about rallying for mid-tern elections in 2 years and how important every single election is and that we must always VOTE. They talk about Kelli’s travels to Baton Rouge to visit her mother and to have all of her favorite foods like shrimp po-boys, marinated crab claws and char gilled oysters. Next, she headed to Las Vegas to attend the Signature Travel Conference at The Venetian Hotel. Between seeing good travel friends, making amazing new connections and speaking at an LGBTQ Travel Symposium, it was a very successful trip. Next hear about what Anne was up to while Kelli was away. First, to feel better post-election, Anne decided to get a head start decorating for Christmas. She also went shopping and to lunch with her mom, had a Christmas show rehearsal with her Musical Director Will which included a Mexican dinner out, drinking at a local dive bar and a massive hangover the next day! Don’t forget Anne’s upcoming annual Christmas show on Dec 4th at Green Room 42 in NYC. There are also LIVE STREAM tickets if you aren’t in NYC. You can find all of Anne’s tour dates and info at www.annesteele.com Then hear about their road trip across the desert from Las Vegas to Palm Springs which included stops at Cane’s for the best chicken fingers ever, a strange pit-stop at the Pioneer Saloon and a lovely drive through the desert. Once they arrived in Palm Springs, they checked into the new Thompson Hotel that is absolutely stunning and had diner at Tac/Quila. The next day was a show day for Anne so of course she wanted a sandwich from The Sandwich Spot. The show was a huge success and was filled with much needed love and acceptance. Next an after-party at Boozehounds, a brunch the next day at EIGHT4NINE, boozy shopping at Just Fabulous Palm Springs and dinner at Workshop. Finally, they flew home through delays and a very bumpy flight. After getting to sleep at 3am they both made it to their Dentist appointments, even against Kell’s will. Finally, they talk about reaching out to listeners and social media followers about their favorite small businesses to support this holiday season. Starting with Quix Chocolate, check out this Belgium chocolate shop based in Detroit and owned by an amazing gay couple, David and Tony. The chocolates are authentic, delicious and beautifully packaged. www.quixchocolate.com Next, check out Sniff a Pickle, a specialty customized merchandise store owned by their besties and husbands, Jon and Steve and based in Nyack, NY. They also have an online store and have their own line of specialty pickles too! www.sniffapickle.com Last week they talked about their former podcast guests, Gillian and Kim, that own the Asheville Bee Charmer. They lost both of their stores during Hurricane Helene and they could definitely use some support. Their online store is still open and it’s the perfect time to grab some gifts or stocking stuffers and support a lesbian owned business. Check out their favorite, the firecracker honey! www.ashevillebeecharmer.com Many of you reached out about Dapper Boi, a body-inclusive apparel line founded by married couple Vicky and Charissa. If you are looking for gender-neutral, size inclusive clothing that allow people to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, check it out. www.dapperboi.com Lastly, check out their friend Kathy Valentine, who is a photographer in the tri-state area. She photographed their wedding, lots of Anne’s concerts and so many of Kelli’s cruises.
