Vale this Week - 22nd March 2023

  • Summary

  • This weeks edition of the Vale this week is brought to you this week by Students from the University of South Wales.

In this edition, we’ll get reaction to the news that Cardiff Bus fares are going to rise from April, with changes to fare boundaries in the Vale of Glamorgan.

We talk to the women who are raising money to give gift boxes to babies with Down’s syndrome. They took a “ walk under the stars” through Cardiff yesterday on World Down Syndrome Day.

Last week the long anticipated deal to buy Aberthaw Power Station by the Cardiff Capital Region was completed. But the announcement by Capital of future plans to develop the station into a large-scale renewable energy factory that will bring in thousands of jobs has raised some concern for local residents. Our reporter Callum Webb has been to St Athan, to find out the views of local residents, and 65 businesses in Barry are coming together to run an Easter egg hunt in hopes of boosting business for local independent stores. We’ll hear from the event's organiser about what it aims to achieve…

Plus we’ll get our usual round-up of the week's local news, events and sport in the Vale of Glamorgan.
