  • Ada Nicodemou, Home and Away's Leah Patterson
    Feb 3 2025

“From two weeks old, I was in a bloody shop. Before I went to school I could count back change” - Ada Nicodemou

Our guest on this episode of Three Food Memories is Australian TV royalty and Home and Away’s most favourite character Leah Patterson.

But here’s the twist: Ada Nicodemou isn’t just a TV icon, but it’s possible she could be a far-flung cousin of Savva’s! They’re Fasouliotes, sharing roots that go deep into the carob and almond orchards of Cyprus.

On the menu is; halloumi, Greek ravioli, and birthday cake!

Ada’s social cause is “Save Our Sons” Her social cause is Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation which she has been an ambassador for for 16 years. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. Symptom onset is in early childhood, usually between ages 2 and 3. The disease primarily affects boys, but in rare cases it can affect girls. You can find out how to help here - saveoursons.org.au.

  • Ellen Harrold, comedian and surfer
    Jan 27 2025

In this special episode for comedy week, we head to the US of A to meet with comedian and surfer Ellen Harrold.

Ellen grew up on the beaches near Atlantic City and has surfed for most of her life. After finishing high school, and inspired by the movie Call Me By Your Name (hello Timothée Chalamet!) she flew off to au pair in Italy for three summers where, you guessed it, she ate a lot of delicious and fresh Italian food, including Spaghetti a la Vongole - which is the third time someone has mentioned this as one of their favourite three food memories on the pod!

Her social cause is affordable health care for all in America.

**Please note: this conversation discusses disordered eating in the first ten minutes.

[Ellen’s episode was recorded in October 2024]
