  • Why Calorie Counting Isn't the Key to Weight Loss
    Nov 26 2024

In this episode, we're spilling the tea on a topic that had me stuck for years: calorie counting.

If you've ever spent hours tracking every bite in a fancy app, only to feel frustrated when the weight keeps coming back, I feel you---and I've got good news.

Counting calories feels like it should work (and hey, it might for a hot second), but it's actually sabotaging your long-term success. Today, I'm breaking down why the old-school "eat less, move more" mantra doesn't hold up and how it leads to cycles of over-restriction, binging, and burnout. Trust me, you're not failing the diet---it's failing you!

I'm sharing the real game-changers: balancing your hunger hormones and embracing healthy restriction. No more 1,200-calorie days that leave you white-knuckling it through life. Instead, let's nourish your body, feel full, and lose weight for the last time.

We also talk about how to stop the yo-yo dieting madness and start living in a way that actually feels good. Because who wants to be chained to a scale or an app forever? It's time to stop working against your body and start working with it.

So grab your headphones, hit play on this episode, and you'll understand:

    • How the over-restrict and binge cycle keeps you stuck---and what to do instead
    • Why balancing hunger hormones is the secret sauce to effortless weight loss
    • How healthy restriction can feel freeing instead of punishing
    • Why calorie counting doesn't deliver the permanent results you're looking for
    • How you can nourish your body and still see the scale move in the right direction

OMG, you guys! I am so excited because our three-step plan to lose weight WITHOUT calorie counting is finally live. There's a masterclass, the actual plan that you will get and create, and then there is accountability. And we're offering it for only $37. So go to lauraconley.com/calorie to get your plan today!

  • Here is Why You Can’t Hate Yourself Skinny with Melissa Parsons
    Nov 19 2024

In this episode, we’re talking all about the pitfalls of trying to hate ourselves into a “better” body. Spoiler: it doesn’t work! My lovely guest, Melissa Parsons, a fabulous life coach and former pediatrician, joins us to share why self-love—not self-punishment—is the real key to happiness and lasting transformation.

Melissa opens up about her journey, sharing how years of self-criticism never led to real joy or confidence. Instead, she learned that the secret sauce to becoming your “favorite you” isn’t forcing yourself to fit a certain mold. She says that focusing on small acts of kindness for yourself (like giving yourself five guilt-free minutes to unwind) is the foundation for true change.

We dive into why it’s so important to stop “burning ourselves to keep others warm.” For so many of us, it’s all about pleasing others, even if it means ignoring our own needs. But Melissa reminds us that putting yourself on the list—yes, YOU!—isn’t selfish; it’s actually the most caring thing you can do. When we’re filled up, we show up as better friends, partners, and moms.

Tune in to today’s episode to learn all about:

    • How the “fill your own cup first” mindset makes you better at showing up for others
    • Why putting others first isn’t always as caring as it seems—and what to do instead
    • How shifting from self-criticism to self-kindness could help you reach your goals, without the burnout
    • Why carving out five peaceful minutes for yourself each day is more impactful than you might think

And by the way, mama: if you want to stop the hate AND lose weight, it’s a thousand percent possible for you. Let’s have a chat. My calendar is open for a call where you can ask any and all questions you want about the Yummy Mummy Experience. • How I Accidentally Figured Out The Secret to Weight Loss
    Nov 12 2024

Hey babes! We're diving into a topic that I think is such a game-changer when it comes to weight loss.

So, let me take you back 10 years---imagine me, totally nailing my diet Monday through Thursday, only to lose control every weekend. I'd drop two pounds by Thursday, then gain it right back by Monday. Sound familiar?

It wasn't until I looked at my pattern (and trust me, I had 15 years of it!) that I realized something critical: the typical "80-20" rule just didn't cut it for me. And doing 98-2? Ugh, it felt like zero fun, which is basically against my life philosophy!

I needed a new way to fill my "pleasure cup" that didn't involve food. That led me on a journey to find true pleasures -- things that light me up during and after, like taking walks with friends, going to yoga, or having a dance party with my team.

One of the best parts of this discovery?

I learned how to build a life filled with "delicious dopamine" that doesn't rely on cupcakes or cocktails. This type of true pleasure is sustainable and way more satisfying than temporary food highs.

But how do we start filling our days with things that bring us joy so we can finally lose weight for the last time? Listen in and learn more about:

    • How to break the cycle of dieting and overeating
    • Why "80-20" doesn't work for everyone and what to do instead
    • What will finally stop those late-night pantry raids

And by the way, mama: if you're ready to learn how to consistently build more joy into your life and stop compensating with food, let's have a chat. My calendar is open for a call where you can ask any and all questions you want about the Yummy Mummy Experience. So get your booty over to my scheduler now to book a free consultation call with me and see if this program is your next right step!

A Pod for All!

This podcast has been a great addition to my weekly routine. Laura’s infectious positivity brings a much needed lightness to life’s challenges and I have found her advice timely and uplifting on many occasions. Even though her messaging is geared towards weight loss, which is actively the opposite of my personal goal, I find the content is relevant to anyone looking for encouragement or help navigating tr messiness life and work and marriage and children. A must listen for moms!
