The Stevie Richards Show Episode 34 ECW Barely Legal Part 2

In the last of our series on ECW Barely Legal PPV, Stevie Richards will talk about the goings on in front of the camera and backstage at the seminal extreme PPV. Pitbull#1, Rick Rude, Taz vs Sabu and Raven vs Terry Funk. Amazing matches, legendary feuds and icons of hardcore all discussed here this week.

Of course, it wouldn't be The Stevie Richards Show without the question, "What Went Wrong?" and it's a triple threat of analysis when Stevie looks at Buddy Matthews' rolling his ankle while entering the ring just as he is about to perform in front of his home country, Finn Balor kicks out of a pin just a little too late and Dakota Kai seems to ignore the fact that Ivy Nile is out on her feet this past week in WWE.

All this and more on this week's edition of The Stevie Richards Show.

The Stevie Richards Show Episode 33 | ECW Barely Legal Pt1

Despite being postponed numerous times and at risk of being cancelled all together, in 1997, ECW did put out their first PPV. Stevie Richards was there and he will share his thoughts on what was going on at the time and the people around him who made the PPV happen. Including: The one man commentary team and the Voice of ECW, Joey Styles, the Dudley Boys and their opponents that night The Eliminators as well as Rob Van Dam who battled Lance Storm that night. Stevie will also be discussing some of the events immedietly before the event: a banquet held in honor of Terry Funk who was announcing his retirement from pro-wrestling as well as a certain documentary called "Beyond the Mat" which was being sht at the same time.

Before all that, Stevie and James take some time to discuss those stars that have been recently let go from both WWE and AEW, Ricky Starks had made his NXT debut almost immedietly after filming the episode but what can we expect from the rest of the men and women as they now (or will soon) find themselves as free agents in the wrestling world. Who will benefit, who was a wasted oportunity and who can we expect to see making the rounds on the indies?

Much to consider, much to discuss on this weeks episode of The Stevie Richards Show.

  • The Stevie Richards Show Episode 32 | ECW's Most Contoversial Moments: The Road to Barely Legal
    Feb 7 2025

Barely Legal was the inaugural PPV held by ECW. It took place on April 13, 1997, from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. BUt it almost didn't happen. And when it did, some asked if it even should have. In this episode, Stevie Richards begins his deep dive into ECW Barely Legal. He will talk about The Mass Transit Incident, his acount of what unfolded and how it nearly killed off the idea of an ECW PPV.

Before that, Stevie will look at the good, the bad and the ugly from WWE Royal Rumble 2025. The winners, the losers and of course we will be asking "What Went Wrong?" when he looks at the double foot curb stomp Seth Rollins gave to Roman Reigns on the outside of the ring AND he will also settle the debate as to whether Penta's feet touched the floor earlier than they should have done.
