Peak District Podcast with Laura Muse

Welcome to the Peak District Podcast with your host, Laura Muse. Join us as we embark on an unforgettable journey through the Peak District, exploring its breathtaking views and uncovering hidden gems along the way.

In this episode, Laura introduces a fabulous guest, Adam, from the Pendragon Project, who shares his crazy and wonderful experiences for travelers visiting the Peak District. Adam's background in running outdoor adventure activities for young people, including expeditions in the jungles of Borneo, led him and his wife, Laura, to create the Pendragon Project.

The Pendragon Project is a not-for-profit social enterprise aimed at providing personal development opportunities for young people who might not have access to such experiences. By running team adventures in the Peak District, they generate 100% of their profits, which directly fund youth expeditions. These expeditions target young people aged 17 to 25, especially those experiencing complex transitions to adulthood, such as care-experienced individuals, those at risk of criminalisation, exploitation, homelessness, and others who have experienced trauma.

One of the exciting team adventures offered by the Pendragon Project is the "Hunt Rogue Agent," where participants become MI fi recruits solving vital missions with the fate of the nation at stake. However, they must watch out for a team of highly trained hunters trying to prevent them from completing their objectives. Inspired by the TV show "Hunted," this activity promises fun and hilarity for groups of friends, families, or work teams looking for unique team-building experiences.

Adam also introduces "Show Games," an indoor adventure that can be brought to any location of your choice. Hosted by Bruce and Fern, it's an interactive team game show experience with elements of classic game shows like Family Fortunes, The Price Is Right, as well as newer ones like Taskmaster, The Cube, and Crystal Maze. Show Games has received recognition, winning the silver award for Experience of the Year at the Visit Peak District and Derbyshire Tourism Awards.

As a passionate advocate of the Peak District, Laura and Adam share their hidden gem recommendations for travelers. While Padley Gorge is a favorite for enchanting walks, Adam suggests venturing to Wirksworth, a quaint town with a blend of traditional high street and bohemian hippie vibes. Another must-visit place for breakfast is the Shakra Lounge in Buxton, offering an Indian twist on the classic full English fry-up.

The podcast concludes with a promise to explore the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Peak District and the potential for future collaborations with the Pendragon Project.
