  • Libby Owens from the Pregnancy Resource Center talks about their upcoming Golf Tourney at Fairview Golf Course July 17, 2020
    Jun 11 2020

Libby Owens fills us in on the main fundraiser for the Pregnancy Resource Center for the year. The tournament is a main fundraiser for PRC.  As a nonprofit organization, they rely on the support of the community in order to provide no-cost services and assistance to pregnant women and their babies.

    2020 PRC Golf Tournament Registration

In previous years, every golfer received a gift from a business.  Retailers also donated prizes for the hole contests.   They welcome any donated items/prizes but realistically they know they may not receive enough for all players to receive one this year.  But you still have time to change that. They will have drawings for gifts.

There will be 2 flights with the top three teams in each flight receiving cash prizes (1) $250, (2)$150, (3)$100.

Libby is happy to visit with any business interested in partnership with PRC.  With a commitment from the business, they will mention a business on Facebook and email updates. So the sooner you are on board like Reed Chevrolet (hole in one for a Malibu) and Don Tolly Insurance (hole in one for $10,000) - the better!  In addition to signage at the tournament and/or listing in the program, sponsors may include coupons, business cards, flyers or promotional items in the golfers' bags.

The plan is to have (25) 4 player teams and approximately 20 volunteers being involved at the tournament.  This is excellent exposure for businesses!

  • Brian Myers with the Tigers Den talks about how his bookstore/bar broke the mold and is ready to host again
    Jun 11 2020

Brian Myers invites us into his lair to discuss how the bookstore/bar got started, how the fun eventually got emulated elsewhere, and how he loves to venture out to make sure his bar has a superior variety and choices for the patrons.

Brian is excited to be able to have the place back open and even though curbside is an ok way to keep things going - it's the camaraderie and the bustle of the folks coming through each day that makes him smile.

They are located at 519 Felix Street - you can't miss it with the robin's egg blue door frame. The insides are filled with books and booze. Every book is for sale or you can just kick back with a beverage and read to your hearts content. Very cool place.

When you want to get away though keep in mind - the Commerce Connection Quest, a quality family event.

The Commerce Connection Quest was the brainchild of Missouri Business Podcast host, John Piazza Norton, who thought this would be a fun way to get people to realize how many wonderful businesses there are in Saint Joseph while benefiting both the business owners and the consumers. That was the framework for this family friendly scavenger hunt.
