S2 EP43 | How Do We Respond to Trauma with Stephen Rowley Today's conversation covered many topics including Steven's memoir, his search for his birth mother, trauma, Jungian psychology and the Willows, where 30,000 babies were born during the 40's and 50's mainly for adoptions. We covered how our culture has changed since those shameful days when young women were "sent away" to have their babies. Steven talks about how he works with people with trauma, and how he helps them move from victim to responsible for their lives. Steven's memoir is fascinating and not only discusses how adopted children have a psychic, subconscious longing, but also his journey through the educational system. Steven spent 40 years in education, getting a PhD from Stanford in Education and is now a Psychotherapist working with clients to create a new empowering story about their lives. BIO: Stephen Rowley, Ph.D., is a psychotherapist practicing in Bainbridge Island, Washington. Real Life NYPD and FBI Stories with Jason Randazzo Title: S2 EP45 | Real Life NYPD and FBI Stories with Jason Randazzo Reading Jason Randazzo's books gave me a look at the life of a NY policeman and FBI agent. It felt like fiction, but they are all true stories. I can't imagine living that life, honestly. It is so far removed from my childhood in small-town Connecticut. That is why I was so fascinated with how Jason went into fighting crime, and some of his friends went the other way. How does one community create such a dichotomy of futures for their youth? Join us for an in-depth discussion of Jason's years growing up, on the police force, and as an FBI agent. I recommend his two books, "Just Another Day," and "The Day After." Bio: The author was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, New York. Through his adolescent years, he tried to compete athletically in baseball and football, hoping to one day play one of the sports professionally. During his time in college, where he bounced through three institutions of learning over four years, trying to find his footing in sports but never quite securing it, he finally got serious about his second choice in life and was able to earn a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The degree enabled him the opportunity to follow the foundation of learning street-level local law enforcement with the New York City Police Department, followed with a career conducting investigations involving bank robberies, fugitives, kidnappings, extortions, and other assorted personal crimes in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Since his retirement from law enforcement and government service, besides maintaining his fitness with both the gym and sports to keep his physique in top shape, the author enjoys driving both fast cars and motorcycles in the New York area while also keeping a residence there on Long Island. This is the second book written about the many experiences of the author during his career in law enforcement. The first book, entitled Just Another Day, was published in 2020.
