Swords and Satire

By: Jamie Mockel Cassidy Williams Jack Olander
  • Summary

  • We are your fantasy hosts three - Jamie, Cassidy, and Jack - and we take a philosophical and humorous approach to discussing fantasy movies and other media. We are all lifelong scholars, who love to analyze the media we consume, but can't help joking around as well, because we are also silly people at heart. On Swords & Satire we review both classic and modern fantasy movies and media, and take an in depth look at the themes, scenes and lore within each one. We highlight the epic moments and features of each film, and treat them with the respect they deserve, taking each one as seriously as a piece of art. We also release mini episodes every other week, in which we act out a humorous skit about the movie we previously discussed. Sometimes we just need that extra avenue to get out our creative ideas. And sometimes we even discuss fantasy games or novels! Listen in wherever you get your podcasts to hear our witticisms, nerdy banter, and love for all things fantasy!

    Jul 1 2023
Well folx, this is it, our final episode of Swords & Satire. We have tried so hard, and come so far, but in the end, it doesn’t even matter… No, wait, sorry, don’t know where that Lincoln Park song came from, but have created one more episode to honor how far we have come as a show, and the classic fantasy film that started it all, Conan the Barbarian. This is also in thanks to all of our listeners and patrons, who have supported our show and stuck with us through all of the ups and downs. We hope you enjoy this final episode, and until we meet again, Hail Crom!P.S. Hang in there at the end of the episode to catch our very last skit, a little treat for you as a parting gift from us, the Satirists!

    Jun 17 2023
You may have some perfectly reasonable, perfectly understandable questions about our movie choice for this week. We can hear the masses clamoring to ask us now, with questions like: What does the Babadook have to do with Pride Month? Is demonic possession a regular part of the grieving process? And, why does he wear such a snazzy tophat, and where can I get one? Well, if you are Baba-shook by this film, worry not for we are here to answer all of these questions and more. We also have an important announcement for our listeners, so please make sure to listen to this episode!
