About the Creator

Michael Dante DiMartino is the creator and writer of the Audible drama Sundown. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Film and Animation, DiMartino became an animation director, working on the prime-time series King of the Hill and Family Guy. DiMartino is the co-creator of the award-winning animated Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel, The Legend of Korra. From 2002 to 2014, he served as executive producer and story editor for both series. He continued Korra’s story as the writer of the graphic novels Turf Wars and Ruins of the Empire. He is also the author of the fantasy novels Rebel Genius and Warrior Genius. Currently, DiMartino serves as the co-Chief Creative Officer of Avatar Studios, developing new content for the Avatarverse.

Asante Blackk received widespread critical acclaim for his Emmy and Critics’ Choice nominated performance in Ava DuVernay’s limited series When They See Us fka Central Park Five. Asante can most recently be seen in NBC’s This Is Us opposite Sterling K. Brown and Mandy Moore where he was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award.

About the Performer

Storm Reid is an actress, producer, artivist and student at USC. She is best known for starring as "Meg" in Disney’s live action adaptation of the acclaimed children's novel A Wrinkle In Time, which was directed by multi-award winner Ava DuVernay. Her recent credits include: Blumhouse’s Don't Let Go (2019) and Invisible Man (2020), Ava DuVernay’s Netflix limited series When They See Us (2019), HBO’s Euphoria (2019-), Hulu’s animated children’s series The Bravest Knight (2019), and The Suicide Squad (2021). Next up, Reid will star in the film One Way where she acted alongside Travis Fimmel, Kevin Bacon and Dreade Matteo, Searching 2, starring opposite Nia Long and HBO’s The Last of Us.
In 2013, Reid and her mother, Robyn Simpson launched A Seed & Wings Productions, an independent multimedia production house rooted in narratives that forge multi-cultural conversations, entertain, educate, and uplift. Their desire is to create authentic storytelling that is impactful, honest, and reflects the perspectives of all people. In 2021, Reid starred, created, and produced (alongside Simpson for her own banner) Facebook Watch’s "Chop it Up," a conversation series by way of cooking.

About the Performer

Devery Jacobs is quickly establishing herself as one of Hollywood’s most exciting rising stars and as a socially conscious voice from Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory, using her platform to advocate for Indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ rights.
Jacobs has recently been cast as a leading role in the latest Marvel series, ECHO. Jacobs can currently be seen as one of the leads in the groundbreaking new show Reservation Dogs, which recently won two Independent Spirit Awards and is airing now on FX and Hulu. Created by Taika Waititi and Sterlin Harjo, Reservation Dogs follows a group of four Indigenous teens who live on an Oklahoma reservation while working - sometimes unconventionally - toward their dream of a better life in California. For her portrayal of "Elora Danan," Jacobs earned a Gotham Award nomination in the category of "Outstanding Performance in a New Series" and Reservation Dogs has been nominated in the category of "Breakthrough Series – Short Format." Jacobs also serves as a writer for the highly anticipated season two of Reservation Dogs.
Jacobs can be seen starring in Caroline Monnet’s feature film, Bootlegger. The story follows Mani, played by Jacobs, an ambitious lawyer in her 20s who heads back to her remote Indigenous community to help her people free themselves from outdated paternalistic laws. The film was awarded "Best Dramatic Feature Award" at the 2021 ImagineNATIVE Festival Awards and received "Best Screenplay" at Cannes’ Cinefondation in 2017.
Up next is Jacobs’ producorial debut narrative feature film Backspot, which is currently in pre-production.
Jacobs has amassed a significant body of work in several film and television productions with a wide reach in genres including Netflix Original horror drama series The Order, Amazon/Starz fantasy drama series American Gods, Blumhouse Productions’ The Lie. Her first breakout role came when she was cast as the lead role in the award-winning feature film, Rhymes For Young Ghouls. This role resulted in her nomination for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role" at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. Additional Canadian film credits include Blood Quantum, Cold and This Life. Crediting her work, Jacobs won "Best Performance in a Canadian Film" at the 2016 Whistler Film Fest and "Best Actress" at the 2017 American Indian Film Fest for her work in the feature film, The Sun at Midnight.
In 2022, Devery landed on the cover of Teen Vogue’s New Hollywood issue, and in 2021, she was placed on the Out100 list. In 2017, the Hollywood Reporter named Jacobs as one of Canada’s Rising Stars, which featured a list of breakout actors who are making an impact in Hollywood. In the same year, she was also honored by Telefilm Canada at the 2017 Birks Diamond Tribute, celebrating women in film. Jacobs was given the title of TIFF Rising Star at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
Jacobs has also explored the other side of the camera, with her directorial debut of the short film Stolen, which won "Best Aboriginal Film" at the 2017 Yorkton Film Festival. Her second short film Rae garnered "Best Youth Work" prize at the Imagine NATIVE Film Festival. It was also an official selection of the 2018 Palm Springs Short fest and was named as one of the "Best Female-Directed Films" by Refinery29. The feature film This Place, co-written by Jacobs, was named a recipient of the Talent to Watch fund from Telefilm Canada.
While pursuing her acting career, she studied to be a counsellor and worked at the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal. Jacobs attended the Canadian Film Centre’s (CFC) Acting Conservatory, an intensive six-month program that explores the different techniques of acting.
Outside of acting and filmmaking, Devery Jacobs is fulfilling her goal of learning her Native language and taking Kanien’kéha (Mohawk) classes. Jacobs’ other passion lies in Indigenous rights and LGBTQ2S+ activism. She was an original founder of the Kahnawà:ke Youth Forum where she led and organized protests and rallies. Recently, Jacobs has been focusing her activism through her art, hoping to create change within communities, and to alter the perspective of how modern Indigenous people are seen.

Only stupid people use the term woke as a negative

When did understanding the past and how it applies to the present become a bad thing? The conversations about race and lack of diversity happen with my son everyday in Greene County, next to Charlottesville, VA.

Tied in from episode one.

This story was so well written. The attention to detail is immaculate. I spent so much of this telling filled with the rage I think was intended. The way that they tackle to cover up of the town’s justify and the way they expose the racist contributors to the lies. I love the way the mystery was unraveled and the growth we see the characters go through. I am disappointed I still have so many questions but perhaps we will get a new mystery in the future. Something else that binds our interests with the story. The growth shown by Cameron will be so appealing when he continues to learn and expand his understanding. It can be so hard to see the negatives of family but he did see it and he did learn from it. It is still something he has to stop internalizing.

Good idea. needs a lot of work to proceed

I like the idea of the disclosure of the hidden history of our country,

there is much that must be discovered and much that must be expressed.
this is a cute and interesting way to get the information to people,
However it needs a better set up in the very beginning so that people don’t turn it off. The first volume was horrible.
it didn’t really start to take Takeoff until chapter 3 then it got better and better until the end and it was very good at the end but most people wouldn’t have listened until it got good.
it needs a lot of work to become a series that will get an audience

This is a Show You DO NOT want to miss

If there is only ONE audio dramas you've got the time to listen to, you will never regret choosing this one.
Phenomenal story telling, incredible acting, and just over all amazing world building, across three different timelines.
Started listening on a whim, and I could not stop until I reached the end, and finally discovered who killed Margaret Hightower.
