  • Ep 82. Khalil Wheeler Weaver
    Jul 17 2023

In New Jersey in 2016 there was a string of missing and murdered women.  Someone was targeting sex workers, luring them in and then murdering them. All of these women had friends or family that went to police with critical information to find the suspect, but over and over again police failed to properly investigate. The cases were not even linked until the final victim's family and friends worked together to lure the murderer in himself.  This case shows that a murderer can be caught by dedicated citizens even when the police aren't doing their due diligence.

  • Ep 79. Cocaine Hippos
    Apr 24 2023

Today we are talking about hippos! 6000 miles away from their natural habitat in Africa, a subspecies of the common hippo has formed in Columbia. These are known as the “Cocaine Hippos.” In the 1980’s the notorious drug lord, Pablo Escobar, illegally imported 1000’s of species of exotic animals to his zoo “Hacienda Napoles.” His prize exhibit were his four hippos, one male and four females. After Escobar’s death in 1993, most the animals were removed, from the zoo, but the hippos proved too difficult to relocate so were left to live out their lives. These hippos thrived in the lush green and wet Columbian environment they bred with each other and their numbers exploded. Eventually they escaped the ranch and have now made their homes in the lakes and rivers of Columbia, and they are wreaking havoc on the ecosystem. They have become the largest alien invasive species the world has ever know and now the Columbian government is desperately trying to find a solutions to control the population before their ecosystem collapses.

  • Ep 78. D.B. Cooper Part 2
    Apr 17 2023

Join us today as our recurring guest host, and brother Sunny, takes us on a wild ride. D.B. Cooper (if that’s his real name) is the worlds most famous plane hijacker. On November 24th, 1971 he hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305. Surprisingly he was actually a somewhat pleasant hijacker as he was accommodating to the flight staff’s concerns and he did not physically harm anyone during his crime. He demanded $200,000 in cash and several parachutes before his escape. He escaped by jumping from the Boeing 727 aircraft, mid-flight,  after he lowered the onboard staircase, never to be seen again. In part two, we discuss the extensive search efforts law enforcement underwent to find any trace of D.B or the stolen cash.

  • Ep 75. Medieval Medicine and Afflictions
    Mar 13 2023

Life in the middle ages was difficult to say the least. Peasants lived in damp cold houses, food was scarce and work was hard. Life as a noble in a castle was better, but still not great. Castles could be just as damp and cold, and very stuffy and moldy due to the stone architecture. Waste lined the streets and polluted the rivers, and in general it was a pretty dirty time in history. Infant mortality rate was outrageously high at 50% and if you made it past one year old, average life expectancy was still only around 40 years old. Due to the harsh conditions, the odds were stacked against your health and wellbeing. Most people would die young due to disease and injury and some even died from the “treatments” of these diseases. Today we will dive into the background of medicine in the Middle Ages and some of the afflictions you might have been diagnosed with if you lived in that time.
