Edel Alonso has a slim lead in the race for the Santa Clarita Community College Board of Trustees. Patsy Ayala is slightly ahead in her race for City Council. The proposition to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers in California looks like it failed. In sports, Golden Valley and Santa Clarita Christian were eliminated from the CIF Southern Section football playoffs. The Rams bounced back with an impressive win on the road in New England against the Patriots. The Kings are back to their winning ways, taking down the Detroit Red WIngs at home.

    We are going to be reviewing the election results for Santa Clarita Valley.

    There was an exhibit hosted by the Artree Community Arts Center at the Santa Clarita Artists Association in Newhall displaying works by the students.

    In sports, three teams from the Foothill League entered the CIF Southern Section football playoffs but only one remains.

    The Canyon girls volleyball team lost in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 championship match but advanced to the CIF State playoffs. The Saugus and Valencia girls volleyball teams are also in the CIF State playoffs.

    The Rams lost to the Miami Dolphins at SoFi Stadium on Monday night and snapped their three-game winning streak.

    The Kings took a tough loss to the Vancouver Canucks and had a lackluster loss to the Calgary Flames but mixed in a rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets in between.

    Republicans in Santa Clarita Valley are celebrating with some big wins, but as of this recording, some of the races are still too close to call. In sports, three teams from the Foothill League are in the CIF Southern Section football playoffs and the Canyon High girls volleyball team is playing for a CIF Southern Section championship. The Dodgers won the World Series, taking down the New York Yankees in five games. The Rams won their third game in a row, rallying in overtime to beat the Seahawks in Seattle. The Kings won their first three home games, but lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in a shootout to snap their home winning streak.

    Hundreds of angry residents attended a meeting at Castaic Middle School about the Chiquita Canyon Landfill, with Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn telling them the landfill is set to close in a month or two. In sports, the Valencia football team won its fifth game in a row and secured at least a share of the Foothill League title, the Golden Valley football team held off Saugus and is in the hunt for a playoff spot, and the West Ranch football team pulled off a last-minute win over Canyon. The Dodgers won the first three games of the World Series powered by Freddie Freeman, who hit a grand slam in the 10th inning to win Game 1 against the New York Yankees. The Rams welcomed back receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua and took down the Minnesota Vikings, one of the best teams in the NFC, on Thursday night. The Kings won their home opener against the San Jose Sharks and followed with a win over the Utah Hockey Club.

    Avid supporters of presidential candidate Donald Trump have been hosting bi-weekly rallies on school property at Bridgeport Elementary, but this week, they moved off of school property. We were at most of these rallies, including the one last week. We will give you the update. In sports, the Valencia High football team won its fourth game in a row and snapped Hart’s seven-game winning streak. The Castaic High football team won its second game in a row. The Golden Valley High football team won a physical defensive battle against West Ranch. The Dodgers are on their way to the World Series and will face the New York Yankees. The Dodgers beat the New York Mets in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series to win the pennant and a spot in the World Series. The Rams knocked off the visiting Las Vegas Raiders at SoFi Stadium and are back in the win column again. The Kings put together a pair of impressive wins on the road, but lost their starting goalie to injury and to the Golden Knights in Las Vegas in a blowout.

    There was a forum hosted by the College of the Canyons and the NAACP for City Council. There was a bipartisan press conference about Chiquita Canyon Landfill, hosted by Congressman Mike Garcia and Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo. In sports, the Hart High School football team won its seventh game in a row and stayed undefeated in the Foothill League. The Valencia High School football team won its third game in a row and improved to 3 and oh in the Foothill League. The Castaic High School football team won its first Foothill League game of the season surprising a surging West Ranch team. In MLB, the Dodgers shut out the San Diego Padres to win Game 5 of the National League Division Series and face the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series. In the NFL, the Rams were on a much needed bye and are awaiting updates on their two star wide receivers, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, who have missed most of the season with injuries. In the NHL, the Kings started the season on a winning note against the Sabres in Buffalo. But lost a tight game against the Bruins in Boston in their second game of the season.

The Rams lost to the Green Bay Packers, and the Los Angeles Kings are without Drew Doughty as they open their season against the Sabres
