Rosette: the podcast

By: Lia Walsh
  • Summary

  • Yeah, we're judging businesses. And you should, too! Ethical consumerism is possible, but first we have to name the problem. Nobody wants shoes made by children in sweat shops. (Or at least nobody good does.) Nobody (good) wants to fuck up the planet more than we already have. So let's talk about what it looks like to ask questions about the products we buy, and make sure that we're putting our money where our values are. Or else we'll judge you, too. Just saying.

  • Economy of scale
    Jun 9 2022

Today, Lia chats about economy of scale (also called economies of scale) and what it might look like in practice. She covers ways in which being a large business gives you a leg up, and how the big fish exploit that even further. If you aren't convinced to support small businesses after this episode, we're pretty sure this isn't the podcast for you. Just saying!

  • Direct trade vs fair trade
    May 26 2022

Today, Lia takes you through what direct trade means (and doesn't), as well as its relationship to fair trade. She'll talk about how they're sort of like cousins, and how direct trade is, like, almost exactly like goat's milk. (No, seriously!) Lia also makes an announcement that things are going to be changing around here! Mostly, you can now expect weekly (rather than daily) episodes that are a little more in-depth. Check back every Thursday for new drops from here on out!
